The papers document the audio and video productions of performance theatre pieces, and other ephemera of performances and readings, photographs (contact sheets and negatives), publicity images; portraits; personal snapshots taken on tour, with members of Latinarte/Ay Ombe and other musicians; artwork, and teachings. In addition, the archive contains journals, business records, draft manuscripts and typescripts of her poetry, novels, and important newspaper clippings reviewing her work.
AV materials comprise 42 CDs/DVDs, 86 MiniDVs, and 1 minidisc.
You will need to make an appointment in advance to use this collection material in the Rare Book and Manuscript Library reading room. You can schedule an appointment once you've submitted your request through your Special Collections Research Account.

The Josefina Báez Papers document Báez's career as a Dominican American writer, theater director, actor, dancer, and teacher in the United States and abroad. Dating back to the 1970s, this archive of writings and related documents provide an invaluable understanding of the significance of Báez's career as a writer and performer. The archive will enable researchers to comb through the different stages of her writing process, visual inspirations in her writing through her travels around the world, and her evolution as actress and dancer.
