Description

Content Description

Paul D. Colford is a newspaper journalist who covered the media during the so-called "newspaper wars" that lasted in New York City from roughly 1985-2005. Colford wrote the "Ink" column for New York Newsday until 2000 and then joined the Daily News and launched the twice-weekly "Hot Copy" column, which focused mainly on NYC's publishing industries — newspapers, magazines and books.

The collection contains printed material on the Daily News, New York Post, New York Newsday and The New York Times. It includes — among other ephemeral ink  — the final edition of New York Newsday (1995), staff memos, financial data, trade press analyses accumulated at NYN and the Daily News, and printed programs distributed at memorial gatherings for NYN editor Donald Forst, NYN columnist Dennis Duggan and columnist Murray Kempton. It also contains company directories, announcements regarding key personnel, and research files drawn from a vast array of trade publications.
