The collection contains correspondence, memos, and reports relating to the development of the final Membership Action team plan; meeting minutes, newsletters, and other documents concerning the Area Coordinators Steering Committee; petitions, clippings, legal documents, and newsletters relating to the abolition of the death penalty in New Jersey; and materials on LGBTQ rights, such as documents on the events leading to the formation of AIMLGC, the ICM decision in 1991 relating to gay and lesbian prisoners of conscience, and the planning and implementation of the Breaking the Silence Campaign.

The papers were originally donated by Paul Tighe to the University of Colorado Boulder in November, 1997 as part of the AIUSA collection. In 2006 the AIUSA collection was transferred to RBML.

Paul Tighe is an AIUSA human rights activist who served on the Membership Action Team from 1994-1995 and the Area Coordinators Steering committee from 1993-1995. He was also the Death Penalty Abolition Coordinator for New Jersey from 1991 to 1995 and was co-founder of the Amnesty International members for Lesbian and Gay concerns (AIMGC) in 1990.
