Much of the collection consists of reports, research papers, convention information, clippings, and other materials concerning chemical and biological warfare. It also includes meeting minutes and conference materials from Cook-Deegan's work with Physicians for Human Rights and AIUSA.
Series I: Physicians for Human Rights, 1987-1998
This series contains meeting minutes from the board of Physicians for Human Rights, as well as conference information, policy documents, and other materials regarding the goals and functioning of the organization.
Series II: Chemical and Biological Warfare, 1971-1995
This series contains information on chemical and biological weapons and warfare and the efforts of the medical community to stop the use of such practices. It contains reports, conference information, guidelines, bibliographies, and information on specific abuses, particularly chemical attacks by Iraq on Kurdish villages. There is also some information on other forms of abuse, such as torture.
This series contains work with AIUSA, primarily the Health Professional Network, and includes general information, a paper on aging, and information from the AIUSA Urgent Action Network.

The papers were originally donated to the University of Colorado Boulder as part of the AIUSA collection. In 2006 the AIUSA collection was transferred to RBML.

Dr. Robert Cook-Deegan is a research professor specializing in genomics, global health, medical ethics, and health and research policy. He served as National Coordinator of the AIUSA Health Professionals' Network (HPN) from 1985 to 1988 and on the AIUSA National Steering Committee from 1988 to 1998. He was also a member of the Board of Directors at Physicians for Human Rights from 1988 to1996, as well as a member of its Advisory Board from 1987 to 1988, Treasurer and member of the Executive Committee from 1994 to1996, and Co-chair of the Fundraising Committee from 1994 to 1996. In both organizations he contributed his medical expertise to study and campaign against chemical and biological warfare.
