The collection documents the teaching, research, and writing of the international relations scholars William T. R. and Annette Fox. It contains research notes, manuscripts, correspondence, course syllabi and lecture notes, and published works by the Foxes and others scholars whose work informed their own.

You will need to make an appointment in advance to use this collection material in the Rare Book and Manuscript Library reading room. You can schedule an appointment once you've submitted your request through your Special Collections Research Account.
The following boxes are located off-site: Boxes 1-23. You will need to request this material at least three business days in advance to use the collection in the Rare Book and Manuscript Library reading room.
Folders containing graded student work in the collection have been restricted.

Biographical / Historical
William T. R. and Annette Baker Fox were a husband and wife team of prominent international relations scholars and Columbia University professors. William T. R. Fox was the Bryce Professor Emeritus of the History of International Relations and the founding director of the Institute of War and Peace Studies. He coined the term "superpower" in the international relations context. Annette Baker Fox was director of the Institute of War and Peace Studies' Canadian Studies Program. She was a noted scholar of small states and middle powers.
