The Charles Dudley Arnold photographic collection is composed of three parts. The first is a collection of 47 platinum print photographs showing views of the Columbian Exposition. These photos were formerly mounted in an album from the library of McKim, Mead & White, architects. This album was v.10 of a 14 volume "collection of albums of photographs, illustrations from periodicals, clippings and sketches depicting works of the firm," now in Avery Classics at AA 712 M195.
The second part of the collection contains 26 platinum and albumen print photographs, mounted on board, showing views of the World's Columbian Exposition. Twenty of these photographs show buildings under construction, including three views of Louis Sullivan's Transportation Building.
The third part contains 28 platinum and albumen print photographs, mounted on board, showing views of the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York. Also included is one gelatin silver print photograph of a model of the Electric Tower, signed by architect John Galen Howard.

Avery Library's Department of Drawings and Archives collection also houses some photographs from v.2 of the McKim Mead and White albums. These photographs show the Columbian Exposition buildings under construction and were part of the exhibit, Picturing the white city.
