Series II: The Making of an Architect

The following papers consist primarily of drafts and galleys for the book The Making of an Architect which was written in honor of the centennial celebration of the Columbia University School of Architecture. The papers are arranged in the order in which the chapters appear in the final book. The larger number of drafts is due to the fact that drafts were circulated for comments to the other authors working on the book. The number of versions of drafts, galleys and footnotes is provided with the number of pages of the longest version. Some of the versions are incomplete. Some sections contain research material used for the chapter, photocopies of illustrations that were used or suggested for use in the chapter, correspondence concerning the writing of the chapter, chapter outlines, or bibliographies. When all versions of a draft, galley or set of footnotes have the same number of pages, that number is given. When there are various page lengths, the page number for the longest version is given. Of particular interest is the material on the 1968 strike which can be found in Chapter 12.
