    <head>Biographical Note</head>
<p>Wayne Wiegand, library historian and Melvil Dewey biographer, received his B.A in history from University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1968 which he followed with an MA in history at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1970. As a graduate student in history he became interested in libraries and upon completion of his M.A. he went on to receive his Masters of Library Science at Western Michigan University and finally a Ph.D. in history at Southern Illinois University.</p>  </bioghist>

    <head>Biographical Note</head>
<p>He served as a librarian for a number of years before starting to teach in library schools. He served on the faculty of the College of Library Science at the University of Kentucky and the School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and, finally, as Professor of Library and Information Studies and Professor of American Studies at Florida State University. While at the University of Wisconsin he founded the Center for the History of Print Culture in Modern America.</p>  </bioghist>
