Summary
This collection consists of the correspondence of the Dean and the Secretary of the Faculty of Political Science with University administrators as well as correspondents outside the university, including prospective applicants, faculty members, and current and former students. Most of the correspondence dates between 1890 and 1912 and addresses requests for matriculation and fellowships, while other areas of consideration include departmental issues, personnel issues, and lists of fellowship and degree recipients. Correspondence with University administrators concerns faculty appointments, enrollment and registration concerns, and class scheduling. Outgoing correspondence of the Dean and Secretary addresses fellowship and scholarship options in attempts to fund specific students, as well as attempts to secure teaching positions for graduating students.

Correspondence dates from 1894 to 1912, but is concentrated between 1907 and 1911. Topics include: the role of the Associate Dean, restructuring of the Department of History to accommodate the divergent needs of undergraduate and graduate students and comparisons of the department with its counterpart at other universities, changes in the Department of Economics, the University Councils Committee of Eleven study of the status and popularity of the M.A. degree, and plans for increasing student interest in studying archaeology and history of art. The records also include copies of University Council resolutions of interest to the Faculty.
