Christine Gudorf donated her papers to the Archives of Women in Theological Scholarship in 2001 with further additions in 2013.
Dr. Christine Gudorf is a teacher and researcher of ethics and religion of the western world focusing on contemporary ethical and religious questions and how they relate among Christianity, Judaism, Islam and other religions. Her writing and teaching focus on development issues (fertility rates, health, education, the status of women, trade, and indebtedness) of the "poor" nations of Latin America, Africa, and parts of Asia. Gudorf was born on June 3, 1949 in Louisville, Kentucky. She received her undergraduate degree from Indiana University in 1971, majoring in Classics, Religion, and Secondary Education in Social Studies. Her graduate work brought a Master of Arts degree in 1976 and a Master of Philosophy degree in 1977, both from Columbia University in joint program with Union Theological Seminary. She received a Ph.D. in Religion in 1979, again in joint program between Columbia University and Union Theological Seminary. Her dissertation titled, Catholic Social Teaching on Liberation Themes, was published by University Press of America in 1980. In 1999 Gudorf completed coursework for a second doctoral degree in Comparative Sociology (with a concentration in social theory and international development) at Florida International University, but after successfully completing comprehensive exams and defending a dissertation proposal, she became chair of the Religious Studies Department for six years and was unable to complete the degree. Gudorf began her academic teaching career at Xavier University, in Cincinnati, Ohio. From 1978 to 1983, she was Assistant Professor and from 1983 to 1988, Associate Professor. She received tenure as Professor in 1988. In 1993 Gudorf moved to Florida International University. At FIU she was Associate Professor from 1993 to 1995. In 1995 she became a full Professor of Religious Ethics, Modern Christianity, Feminism and Development, a position that she held until her retirement in 2014. Gudorf has also been a visiting professor at six universities on four continents. Gudorf is the author or editor of eight books.

When the Burke Library acquired Gudorf's papers, an attempt was made to maintain the original order she imposed throughout the course of her career. Folded materials were flattened. Newspaper clippings were photocopied on acid free paper. Staples, rubber bands, and metal clips were removed and replaced with plastic clips. All materials were placed in acid-free folders and boxes. The finding aid was created by Leslie Reyman in 2001, updated by Ruth Tonkiss Cameron in 2013, and edited by Leah Edelman in 2022.
