    <head>Biographical sketch</head>
<p>A lieutenant general in the Imperial Army, Kholḿsen served as a Russian military representative in the Balkans and Turkey before 1914. He was captured by the Germans during World War I. In the emigration, he headed the Paris section of the Russian General Military Union (Russkiĭ Obshche-Voinskiĭ Soi︠u︡z).</p>  </bioghist>
