Collection processed by Celeste Brewer in November 2022. Materials arrived in a large transfile in hanging folders. The transfile was replaced with two record storage cartons, and hanging folders were replaced with acid-free folders.

The collection was digitized in its entirety by staff members at the The Gottesman Libraries, Teachers College, before being transferred to the Rare Book and Manuscript Library. At some point prior to digitization, Grace Roosevelt arranged the folders in chronological order, wrote a summary of significant contents in the collection, and selected and photocopied documents to be scanned; her work is in the first two folders in the collection. Also at the Gottesman Libraries, the decision was made to describe these materials as part of the Lawrence A. Cremin papers. However, the Rare Book and Manuscript Library chose to describe the materials as a separate collection of the Institute's own records because, while Cremin was its founding director and an influential figure in its history, the Institute was a formal entity within Teachers College, established by the Board of Trustees.
