Collection Scope and Content Summary

This collection consists of photographs from Henderson and Schaeffer's travels and work in India. The black-and-white and color photographs are mostly of Henderson, Schaeffer, and their traveling companions; the Taj Mahal; buildings; and street scenes.

Of interest in the collection are photographs of a parade after Germany surrendered on May 7, 1945. Also of note are photographs of Mahatma Gandhi and a September 1945 meeting of the All India Congress Committee. It is unclear whether the photos of Gandhi and the All India Congress Committee were taken by Henderson and Schaeffer or another photographer.
 </scopecontent>
