<p>Paper records were transferred to the Archives from the Africana Studies department. Born-digital images werwe transferred from the Office of Commmunications records. Event recordings transferred from Instructional Media and Technology Services (IMATS) in 2025.</p>  </acqinfo>

    <head>Collection Arrangement</head>
<p>The archivist arranged this collection chronologically at the file level. The born digital materials on the transferred computer disks, as part of the processing work done by Archives staff, some intellectual reorganization was undertaken to allow the digital materials to be easily integrated into a single system of arrangement.</p>  </arrangement>

<p>This collection was processed and the finding aid was written by Amy Lau in October 2015. Additional computer disks were transferred and processed in 2018 by student associates. The  finding aid was updated by Olivia Newsome in 2023. In August 2025, Martha Tenney processed a digital accrual. In September 2025, Olivia Newsome updated this finding aid.</p><p>Descriptive Rules Used: Finding aid adheres to the prescribed by Describing Archives: a Content Standard.     <head>Collection Scope and Content Summary</head>
<p>The collection contains materials that document the Africana Studies Department at Barnard College. Included in the collection are flyers from film events circa 1997, two copies of a booklet from a 2012 Ntozake Shange performance and conference at the Diana Center, and event recordings and photographs.</p><p>The digital images document a 2004 event sponsored by the Africana Studies department at Barnard who hosted Black historian Michael Eric Dyson. They include photographs of Michael Eric Dyson and Barnard President Judith Shapiro.</p>  </scopecontent>
