This collection is arranged into three series that reflect the name changes of the committee. Within the series, the materials are organized chronologically. Series 3 contains digital files.

Series 3: Faculty Budget and Planning Committee, 2005-2019
The Faculty Budget and Planning Committee (FPBC), previously known as The Budget Review Committee as well as the Resources and Planning Committeee abd Faculty Planning Committee, is composed of students and faculty. It formed in the fall of 1971 under the name of the Budget Review Committee, to allow for student and faculty oversight of budgeting processes (see Barnard Bulletin, March 9, 1972, page 8). The committee was originally involved in reviewing the budgets once they were completed. Sometime in 1977 or 1978, they were invited to take a more active role in budget formation. However, the committee was critiqued by students because it only considered student perspectives "in name only" (Barnard Bulletin, November 24, 1975).
The name of this committee changed around 1983 to the Resources and Planning Committee. Archivists believe that the current name of this committee is the Faculty Budget and Planning Committee (FBPC), which is a current standing committee as of the writing of this finding aid; the date of the name change to FBPC is unknown.

This collection was rehoused and the description was revised in November 2023 by Olivia Newsome. In March 2024, Olivia Newsome moved this collection from a previous record group, BC19 (Committees), to the current record group, BC06 (Faculty Committees), to reflect the fact that this is a faculty committee. Olivia Newsome also updated the finding aid at this time. In July 2024, Olivia Newsome processed a significant accural. In June 2024, Olivia Newsome processed a small digital accural. In August 2025, Olivia Newsome processed a small digital accural.

This collection includes materials related to the Faculty Budget and Planning Committee, when it was known as the Committee on Budget Review. Committee materials include supporting documents for committee activities like meeting minutes, meeting agendas and relating correspondence, reports, memoranda, contingency plans, and budget projections. Additionally, this collection includes materials from the current committee iteration, the Faculty Budget and Planning Committee including supporting documents, research files, agendas, meeting minutes, correspondence and reports.
Permission to publish material from the collection must be requested from the Barnard College Archives. The Barnard College Archives approves permission to publish that which it physically owns; the responsibility to secure copyright permission rests with the patron.
