Felix Adler, religious leader and educator, taught courses in social and political ethics at Columbia between 1902 and 1933. The collection includes correspondence, manuscripts, typescripts, notes, photographs, and printed materials.

Americans United for Separation of Church and State, founded in 1947, is a non-profit and non-partisan organization dedicated to church-state separation. The Americans United Subject files are approximately 44 linear feet of secondary research material relating to the religious right and religion in government and schools. Over 300 organizations are represented, with most of the material consisting of clippings, mass mailings, and newsletters.

Katie Geneva Cannon, the first African-American woman ordained in the United Presbyterian Church, was a minister, professor, and foundational voice of womanist theology. The collection contains professional and personal materials including coursework, biographical material, artwork, teaching resources including syllabi, writing and research materials including drafts and notes, sermons, lectures and documentation of speaking engagements, correspondence, and publicity materials.

Samuel Macauley Jackson (1851-1912) was a UTS alum of 1873, Presbyterian minister, church historian, and New York University professor. The collection contains notes on the lectures of Roswell Dwight Hitchcock and Henry Boynton Smith taken by Jackson while at Union, as well as translations of the sermons of Swiss thinker Huldrich Zwingli, with additional correspondence of Robert Handy on the index of Jackson's translations.

Research material for two of Larry Tye's books, Superman: The High Flying History of America's Most Enduring Hero, which includes correspondence, subject files, and legal files, and for Bobby Kennedy: The Making of a Liberal Icon, which includes oral history files and subject files.

Personal and family papers of the Welsh American sociologist and progressive educator Thomas Jesse Jones (1873-1950). Through his work at Hampton Institute, the U.S. Census Bureau, the U.S. Bureau of Education, and the Phelps-Stokes Fund, he gained extensive influence over policy and curricula for African American education and African education during the era of European colonization.

Manuscripts of American architect Frank Lloyd Wright contain his working drafts and final versions of his writings (published and unpublished), lectures, and talks dating from 1894 until his death in 1959. The collection consists of approximately 2,785 drafts amounting to over 31,000 sheets. The manuscripts range from handwritten drafts to heavily corrected typescripts and galley proofs. Included in this comprehensive collection of writings are a large number of unpublished pieces which expand upon Wright's published ideas on architecture, art and aesthetics, and which provide further insights into the architect's views on politics, religion, morality and various other topics.

William Weston patton (1821-1889) was a UTS Alumnus (1842); Presbyterian minister; abolitionist; and the son of William Patton (a faculty member and director at Union Theological Seminary). The collection contains family photographs, books written or owned by members of the family, and newsletters, service programs, and other materials relating to the Congregational Church of Christ in Westfield, NJ.
