The Amiri Baraka Papers contains correspondence, writings, and the personal, political activism and teaching materials related to Amiri Baraka's career as a poet, writer, editor, activist, and teacher in the New York City Beat, Downtown, and Black Arts literary scenes from the 1960s through the 2000s. Included are manuscripts from Baraka's numerous books of poetry, non-fiction, fiction, plays, editorial work, and screenplays. The collection also features organizational and documentary materials relating to Baraka's university teaching and Newark, NJ-based Black radical activism, as well as audio/visual material, photographs, and printed material collected and created by Baraka.

John Goodman Hall graduated from Union Theological Seminary in 1839 and went on to serve as a Congregational pastor in South Egremont, Mass., Cherry Valley, NY, Fort Plain, NY, and in Ohio. The collection contains two journals, a scrapbook of clippings including selections from Hall's sermons and letters, a pew plan, and brief family history.

Edward Robinson (1794-1863) was a Presbyterian minister, Biblical scholar, Union Theological Seminary professor, and its first librarian. This collection contains the manuscript originally entitled "Biblical Researches in Palestine and the Countries in the South," appendices of English-Arabic lists and language exercises, travel itineraries, a guide to Arabic pronunciation, and supplementary materials relating to travel; galley proofs of the Friedrich Wilhelm Gesenius lexicon with handwritten annotations by Robinson and possibly others; as well as two plastic-bound transcripts, indexed, of letters exchanged between Edward Robinson and Moses Stuart between 1826 and 1830.

Correspondence, diaries, and speeches of Marriner. The correspondence contains letters from Charles Francis Adams, Brendan Bracken, Charles G. Dawes, Walter E. Edge, James A. Farley, Myron T. Herrick, Frank B. Kellogg, Dwight W. Morrow, Henry L. Stimson, Jesse Isidor Straus, and various members of the Roosevelt family. Marriner's diaries, covering the years 1918-1936, in twenty volumes, cover the periods he spent in Stockholm, Bucharest, Budapest, Washington, London, Paris, and Beirut. Also, a file of Marriner's speeches, his autograph guest book, a typescript copy of his Harvard University doctoral dissertation, and a photograph; and a microfilm containing letters of condolence and obituary notices at the time of Marriner's death in 1937.
