Konstantin Vasil'evich Semchevskii Papers, 1912-1977
30 itemsThe collection includes cataloged photographs (Nicholas II, Grigoriĭ Semenov) and arranged correspondence to both Semchevskiĭ and his wife. The main item in the collection is Semchevskiĭ's eight-part memoir which describes his childhood in Tbilisi, his service as kamer-pazh (page of the bedchamber) to Nicholas II and his military career in World War I and the Civil War. It also describes Semchevskiĭ's life as an emigre in Berlin, where he ran a bookstore, in England, where he manufactured motorcycles, in Austria, where he worked at an oil refinery, and eventually in the United States. There are also documents (such as military records and passports) and a photograph of Semchevskiĭ and his wife taken in 1921.

McGoey's records, from the various administrative positions he held and some personal records he collected during his over-30-year career at Columbia. The office files include subject files, reading files (outgoing correspondence), and meeting minutes. The personal files contain mostly articles, newspaper clippings, and press releases, but also some memorabilia and correspondence.

Among the letters from literary figures are ten letters from the American novelist and playwright Aʹmelie Rives and her husband, the Russian Prince Pierre Troubetzkoy and letters from other famous authors during the 1920's. There are also letters Margolies collected, including eight letters from Stuyvesant Fish to George Wharton Pepper, on the League of the Preservation of American Independence, on President Wilson and the League of Nations, and letters from Presidents T. Roosevelt and Taft to Harry B. Apt concerning speaking engagements. Most of the many photographs cover the opening of a bookstore in Teheran in 1963, for which there is also additional material.
