Morris Harold Saffron collection letters and manuscripts, circa 1700-1992
1 linear feetLetters, manuscripts, printed ephemera and photoreproductions collected by Saffron. The collection reflects Dr. Saffron's two avocations: book collecting and the history of medicine. Of particular importance are three reels of microfilms of Hunterian manuscripts at the University of Glasgow Library. William Hunter (1718-1783) was a Scottish physician. In addition, there is an autograph signed manuscript by John Martyn titled "To the Author of the Grubstreet Journal" 1731-32; letters published in "The Grub-Street Journal" concerning Richard Bentley's edition of Milton; a letter from Stephen Phillips to [Sir Sidney Colvin]; and poetry of Emily Winthrop Miles

George A. Plimpton Papers, 1634-1956

Plimpton Papers consist largely of personal and professional correspondence, financial and real estate records, personal diaries and albums, writings, and lectures produced by or for George Arthur Plimpton. But the Papers also contains not only the correspondence and records of Plimpton's colleagues at Ginn and Company, the publishing house that Plimpton led for decades, but also correspondence and records relating to the dozens of other institutions and organizations that Plimpton helped lead. In addition to extensive correspondence relating to Plimpton's collecting of rare books, manuscripts, and historical artifacts, the Papers also contain such diverse items as autographs of presidents, handwriting specimens, studies of medieval manuscripts, and documents relating to the American slave trade.

Columbia University Calendars, 1902-2011
2.5 linear feetThis collection contains calendars produced by various departments and offices of the University to serve as mementos, record the academic year, or mark anniversaries, such as the sesquicentennial calendar in 1904. Some are calendars made to be displayed on walls; others are weekly appointment books. The calendars contain original artwork (drawings, cartoons) and photographs. Earlier calendar feature photos which originally appeared in the yearbook, the Columbian. Later calendars contain photos of the Morningside Heights campus buildings and students, many of which can be found in the Historical Photograph Collection (including those by Manny Warman, University Photographer) and in the Walter L. Bogert Photograph album.

Edmund Blunden papers, 1922-1986
8 linear feetCorrespondence, manuscripts, documents, photographs and printed material of the English poet and critic, Edmund Blunden, documenting his personal and professional activity. Blunden's letters to his second wife, Sylva Norman, and his secretary, Aki Hayashi, are particularly well represented. Also included are many letters addressed to Blunden by eminent literary figures such as John Betjeman, George Orwell, Siegfried Sassoon, Stephen Spender, and Henry Williamson. Other literary correspondents are Adrian Bell, Joyce Cary, Richard Church, C. Day Lewis, Walter de la Mare, Graham Greene, H.D., William Plomer, Kathleen Raine, and Leonard Woolf. A substantial portion of the cataloged correspondence contains drawings, verse fragments and poems by Blunden which have been analyzed. Also present are eleven of Blunden's diaries, 1936-1967, which contain drafts of a number of poems. In addition, the collection contains a small number of autograph manuscripts of Edmund Blunden's literary works.

Plimpton, and his wife Pauline Ames Plimpton. Also included are documents and photographs produced by or for other Plimpton, Pearsons and Ames family members, from seventeenth century ancestors to late-twentieth century descendants.
