Collection includes James Renwick's sketches, 1813, for the layout of Columbia University's second campus on Park Row (there have been four campuses to date: the first on Wall Street, the third on 49th Street and Madison Avenue, and the current campus in Morningside Heights), and a medal awarded him, 1824, by the Franklin Institute, Philadelphia. James Renwick, Jr. is represented by his architectural drawings of St. Patrick's Cathedral, New York, which he designed. Some of the drawings are signed by Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue. Correspondence, photographs, photographic plates, photostats, clippings, periodicals, and books relating to the history and literature of boxing and the prize ring from Homer to the 20th century. The correspondence, with related clippings, photographs, and photostats, is chiefly addressed to Magriel from outstanding figures in the sports world and from his publishers. It is arranged under general subject headings. Also, an unpublished typescript by Magriel on the history of pugilism.

The records include addresses, annual reports, correspondence, memos, minutes, program files, newsclippings, administrative records, photographs, video tape, and film. They include material dating from the decades prior to the establishment of the settlement which shed light on the philosophy and motivation of its founders, and offer a unique view of the first wave of the settlement house movement in America. The records document social conditions, demographic change, political activity and philanthropy in New York City. Addresses by East Side House founder Everett P. Wheeler, included in Series I, document his family history and career as a lawyer and civic reformer prior to the founding of East Side House. Wheeler's correspondence details his role in establishing the settlement and managing it during its first decades.

The records include annual reports, board minutes, budgets, by-laws, correspondence, memos, publications, reports, scrapbooks, photographs and printed material. They document the settlement and its antecedent institutions from 1854 to 1994, offering a unique view of the first wave of the settlement house movement in America, as well as related philanthropy and social welfare activities in New York City over a 140 year period. The origins of Goddard-Riverside Community Center are documented in Series I, which includes eight institutional subseries. These records provide a wealth of information on philanthropic, social welfare and settlement work from the mid-19th century through the 1950s. Series II - IV document the activities of the settlement from 1959 to the 1990s, with a particular emphasis on the urban renewal period of the 1960s. Items in Series VII include photographs of staff, activities, facilities of Goddard-Riverside Community Center, as well as several of its predecessor institutions.

The collection consists of Skorino's correspondence, manuscripts, documents, photographs, printed materials and drawings. The correspondence, primarily from the late 1940s through the early 1960s, is chiefly of a personal nature as are the documents. The manuscripts, photographs, and printed materials pertain in large measure to the activities of the Egerskiĭ Polk, its veterans' organization in Belgium, and to other military veterans' organizations in exile. Of particular note are two dozen glass negatives of photographs of Russian military life in the World War I era.

Professional and personal files including Armstrong's correspondence with professional associations, other engineers, and friends, his research notes, circuit diagrams, lectures, articles, legal papers, and other related materials. Of his many inventions and developments, the most important are: 1) the regenerative or feedback circuit, 1912, the first amplified radio reception, 2) the superheterodyne circuit, 1918, the basis of modern radio and radar, 3) superregeneration, 1922, a very simple, high-power receiver now used in emergency mobile service, and 4) frequency modulation - FM, 1933, static-free radio reception of high fidelity. More than half the files concern his many lawsuits, primarily with Radio Corporation of America, over infringement of the Armstrong patents. Litigation continued until 1967. Other files deal with his work in the Marcellus Hartley Research Laboratory at Columbia University, 1913-1935, and with the American Expeditionary Forces in France during World War I, his Air Force contracts for communications development, Army research during World War II, the Radio Club of America, the Institute of Radio Engineers, FM development at his radio station at Alpine, N.J., the use of FM in television, his involvement in Federal Communications Commission hearings and legislation, and his work with the Zenith Radio Corporation. The printed materials include books written, edited, and translated by Komroff, as well as his contributions to anthologies and periodicals. There are also a number of books by other authors inscribed to him. Most of the photographs are portraits of literary figures, the majority of which were taken by Komroff.
