Liu's typescript "The Zemstvos: Role in the Development of Elementary Schools" was written as a master's thesis for the University of Maryland in 1972.

Letters of Freeman, addressed to various personalities at Harper Brothers and the Century Magazine, relating chiefly to the publication in serial and book form of her various novels and short stories. Included are letters to Richard Watson Gilder, Robert Underwood Johnson, Colonel George B. Harvey, and Henry Mills Alden. Also, photocopies of the typescript of Brent L. Materials gathered by Maurice B. Cuba for a projected doctoral dissertation at Columbia University on the life of Robert Dale Owen (1801-1877), social reformer, author, and spiritualist. The collection is composed of Mr. Cuba's correspondence about Owen, outlines and drafts for his thesis, many notes and copies of letters from Owen, and photostats of manuscript and printed materials from several libraries in Indiana where Owen helped to establish the utopian community of New Harmony. There are also eleven holograph letters from Owen to various people.

A small group of letters, manuscripts, notes, notebooks, a diary, a document, and 43 books from his library of French literature, 32 of which are signed and inscribed to him by the author.

The files also contain materials about his judicial appointment, the American Law Institute, the Columbia University School of Law, and the Project on International Procedure. Correspondence, manuscripts, and notes. This collection contains the manuscripts for most of his books and articles. There are also copies of his many book reviews and articles by other authors analyzing the impact of his interpretations of American history. The correspondents include: H.S. Commager, C. Vann Woodward, Stuart Bruchey, S.E. Morison, Clarence Ver Steeg, Alfred A. Knopf, Helen Frankenthaler, Arthur Schlesinger, Jr., and others. There are also 70 books from his library

Lecture notes and essays of Canfield while a student at Columbia College. A number of subjects are covered including Richard Sears McCulloh's lectures on physics, on optics, and on pneumatics, Francis Lieber's lectures on history, and John McVickar's lectures on religion. Also, Canfield's graduation thesis "The Dignity of Labor."
