Papers of Abraham Alstyne Slover, consisting mostly of his undergraduate writings and memorabilia. Included in this material are one volume of notes on Prof. John McVickar's lectures on "The History of Literature" March-July 1825, seven notebooks of Slover's verse and prose, and the manuscripts of several public lectures with newspaper accounts of them. There is also a family Bible containing genealogical records, chiefly births, marriages, and deaths in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Cotton's 15 nonconsecutive manuscript pocket diaries for the period from 1850 to 1877. The diaries outline his life and travels. The entries for the Civil War years are especially interesting. He often describes the capital's fear of enemy invasion, recent nearby incursions, troop movements, and the general preoccupation with all aspects of the war. He called on President Lincoln, attended his second inauguration, and notes the passage of the Emancipation Proclamation. He describes the capital's joyous mood at the fall of Richmond and the gloom over the assassination of Lincoln. He attended the military court to see the conspirators. Later volumes talk about Pension Bureau affairs and his health and that of his family.

Among the correspondents are: Mikhail Chekhov, Olga Chekhov, Roman Gul, Vladimir Ilin, Artur Luther, Sergei Melgunov, Bishop Serafim, Fedor Stepun, Ilia Surguchev, Alexandra Tolstoy, and Vladimir Zenzinov.

This collection contains lectures, notes, photographs, correspondence, and architectural drawings documenting the work of Russell Sturgis, and, secondarily, his son, Lyman Sturgis. The materials were created between 1874 and 1932.

This collection of autographed inscriptions and letters from noted 19th century musicians was assembled by Mason. The material includes the signatures of 85 composer, performers, and other musical people, most of whom were Dr. Mason's contemporaries and personal friends. There are 103 items the majority of which are bits of music in script with signatures, and a few autograph letters to Mason. Among those represented are Berlioz, Jenny Lind, Franz Liszt, MacDowell, Paderewski, Rubinstein, Saint-Saens, Samaroff, and the Schumanns.
