Correspondence, manuscripts, documents, memorabilia, and scrapbooks. Correspondence ranges from personal, family, literary, and fan mail to that dealing with political issues and public housing. Correspondents include Whittaker Chambers, Clarence Darrow, Ruby Darrow, John Dos Passos, Max Eastman, Joseph Freeman, Michael Gold, Upton Sinclair, and Robert F. Wagner. There are manuscript versions for many of Harrison's novels and stories, some of which are unpublished. The memorabilia include tapes and recordings of Harrison's interviews and readings of his works. Scrapbooks consist primarily of newspaper clippings relating to his books, public housing, labor relations, and socialism. Also, copies of some of his books in various editions and translations.

Max Nomad collection of political newspaper clippings, 1920-1951

His information file of clippings, excerpts, and ephemera. Each item is carefully documented as to its place and date of publication. Many of these documentary markings are in a highly abbreviated form for which there is a key. The clippings are from such publications as THE AMERICAN MERCURY, ARBEITER-ZEITUNG, AVANTI, THE DAILY WORKER, THE HERALD TRIBUNE, L'HUMANITE, KOMMUNISTISCHE INTERNATIONALE, LE TEMPS, NEW MASSES, NEUER VORWAERTS, RABOTNIK, and many others. Much of the material is in various western European languages, but the majority is in English. The collection is arranged alphabetically by country and within these broad categories the material is either in a rough chronological arrangement or is grouped around specific topics. The clippings are not mounted but are placed loosely in a series of folders. Also included are two volumes of Nomad's essays entitled: THE ANARCHIST TRADITION AND OTHER ESSAYS; and, POST-MORTEMS AND POST-SCRIPTS. These anthologies of printed essays and photocopies of typescript essays were compiled by Nomad in 1967.

Rusanov outlines here the preparations for the meeting and narrates his encounters with workers' parties and leaders of the socialist movement in Sweden, England, France and Italy.

His writings deal with the labor movement, economics, the Socialist Party, and other liberal causes of the period between the wars. The extensive correspondence in the collection includes letters from Lewis Corey, Herbert Hoover, Sinclair Lewis, H.L. Mencken, Ayn Rand, Norman Thomas, and Leon Trotsky.
