Correspondence, manuscripts and page proofs. The correspondence includes 12 letters from Roland Barthes, 1963-1978, concerning French literature in French and American universities, and one letter from Charles Maurras and his comments on Roudiez's Columbia University dissertation (1950), CHARLES MAURRAS: GENESIS OF A REACTION; also a typescript of the translation and revision of the dissertation, MAURRAS JUSQU'À L'ACTION FRANC̦AISE, published in Paris in 1957. In addition, there are several typescript drafts and page proofs all with holograph corrections for Roudiez's translations of Julia Kristeva's DESIRE IN LANGUAGE (New York: Columbia University Press, 1980) and POWERS OF HORROR (New York: Columbia University Press, 1982); and the typescript for Roudiez's book FRENCH FICTION TODAY(New Brunswick: Rutgers University Press, 1972)

Correspondence, manuscripts, documents, photographs, subject files and printed materials of Urusov. Urusov began his diplomatic career at the Vatican, and subsequently served in Bucharest (1880-1886), Brussels (1886-1898), Paris (1898-1903), Rome (1903-1904), and Vienna (1904-1910). The collection includes letters from Thʹeophile Delcassʹe, Nikolaĭ Giers, Aleksandr Gorchakov, Aleksandr Izvolśkiĭ, Vladimir Lamzdorf, King Leopold II, Alekseĭ Tolstoĭ, and Pauline Viardot-Garcia. There is a photocopy of a poem by Pushkin. The arranged correspondence primarily concerns Urusov's professional affairs, but also includes family letters. There are manuscripts by a number of people; most (including Urusov's own) relate to Russian diplomacy. The manuscript by P.V. Vogak discusses his service with the Red Cross during World War I, and includes material by I.N. Urusova (Urusov's wife), who was a Red Cross nurse. There are a number of documents Urusov received during his diplomatic service. Among the printed materials are two folders of clippings (some of which discuss Urusov) and several booklets and pamphlets.

Ginsberg's papers are mostly the manuscripts and clippings of his poetry and prose writings, class notes for his courses at Rutgers, clippings of interviews and other publicity materials for his joint poetry readings with Allen Ginsberg, and many books from his library. Also included are ten letters from Ginsberg to Louis Untermeyer regarding Ginsberg's poetry; and four letters from Gisnberg to Stanley Wertheim.

Correspondence, lectures, and manuscripts for poems, plays, and stories of Anspacher. Included also are several records and a large number of personal photographs.

Letters, manuscripts, and books, including four letters from MacNeice to the poet and editor, Geoffrey Grigson. The manuscripts, either by or about MacNeice, include ten of his last poems. Five of these have been published in SOLSTICE, 1961, and four in THE BURNING PERCH, 1963. Drafts of the first group of poems were written in a personal notebook used by the poet while he worked for the British Broadcasting Corporation. In another similar notebook is a partial draft of his play "The Administrator." Both notebooks are in the collection. Also, an untitled, unpublished poem of seven stanzas"Tingling [born] the burning island" written on the reverse of a map. Works about NacNeice include manuscripts of a memoir and a radio portrait by Robert Pocock. The portrait has poignant comments and personal reminiscences by twenty of the poet's contemporaries, including John Betjeman, Anthony Blunt, W.H. Auden, E.R. Dodds, Stephen Spender, and others. Both Auden and a literary coterie of Spender, Betjeman, William Empson, and Cyril Connoly taped disucssions of MacNeice and his poetry. Also, thirty-eight books that were in MacNeice's personal library. Most are autographed by him, and many have marked passages and marginal notes. One of the books, Euripides' ALCESTIS AND OTHER PLAYS, is heavily annotated, apparently for a broadcast production.

A collection concerned with the various phases of black life in America, containing clippings, pamphlets, photographs, pictures, extracts from periodicals, and a representative group of approximately 350 letters, signatures, manuscripts, and documents. Among the letters are several each from Countee Cullen, Frederick Douglass, Alexander Dumas, fils, William Lloyd Garrison, Claude McKay, Abraham Lincoln, Henry Mencken, William Pickens, Albert A. Smith, and Booker T. Washington. Also, eighteen slavery documents.

A collection of Voloshin's poems in typescript. The collection is entitled "Plamena (Voĭna i revoli︠u︡t︠s︡ii︠a︡ 1914-1919)". Also included is a published collection of Voloshin's poetry"Demony glukhonemnye" (Kharḱov, 1919), inscribed to the artist Aleksandr Shervashidze.
