Over the course of fifty years, the former documentary filmmaker Makino Mamoru (1930-) developed an extensive collection on the history of East Asian film, which covers the history of Japanese cinema spanning over a hundred years. The collection as a whole contains approximately 80,000 items, and focuses on print materials. The materials cover various film events and festivals across multiple genres of films: experimental films, educational films, documentary films, news films, amateur films, and animated films, among many others. The collection contains books, correspondences, handbills, magazines, manuscripts, newspapers, notes, photographs, postcards, posters, scripts/scenarios, slides, glass plate negatives, video cassettes, and other printed materials.

The Theodore Richards Conant Collection documents the life and film making career of Theodore Richards Conant, dating from 1949 to 2010, with the bulk of the materials dating from 1953 to 2000. The focus of the materials is on the Korean War, Korean culture and society. Materials in the collection consist of his personal papers and a substantial amount of audiovisual materials related to the documentary films created and/or collected by him during his career. The personal papers consist of clippings, ephemera, correspondence, scenarios, notes, catalogs, journals and other unique items. The photographs in the collection document Korea's political and cultural aspect, as well as Conant's work in Korea as a film producer while working in the UN Korean Reconstruction Agency (UNKRA). The audiovisual materials are the documentaries directed and filmed by Conant, related to the Korean War, Korean society and culture.

Thomas Day Thacher Papers, 1917-1950

The papers include correspondence, subject files, photographs, and printed materials. The majority of the collection concerns the mission of the American Red Cross to Russia in 1917-1918; Thacher served as a secretary of the mission. There are letters and telegrams by W.B. Thompson and Raymond Robins, records of supplies, shipments, and distribution reports and over 600 photographs from Russia, China, and Romania. There is substantial correspondence from 1918-1919 concerning Russia, including letters by Louis Brandeis, Felix Frankfurter, and Lillian Wald. A substantial part of the collection concerns Russian war relief in 1941-1942, an area in which Thacher was active. Printed materials include a pamphlet and an article on Russia prepared by Thacher after his return from that country in early 1918.

Minutes, memoranda, bulletins and printed materials of the Uchreditel'noe sobranie (Russian Constituent Assembly) in Paris in 1921. There are minutes of the Judicial Commission of the Assembly; resolutions of the Executive Committee of the Assembly; a report of the Executive Committee's activities during 1921; numerous memoranda prepared by the Assembly mainly concerning Soviet Russia's relations with Western European and Far Eastern countries and treaties affecting Soviet Russia after WWI; and 11 typed information bulletins about the famine in Russia, Russian refugees and prisoners-of-war, and the financial situation of Soviet Russia in 1921. The printed materials include information bulletins, appeals to aid those suffering from the famine in Russia, and several pamphlets on Soviet prisons, the Treaty of Riga (1921), and the commercial pact between England and Soviet Russia(1921). There is also a folder with miscellaneous materials.

The papers consist of manuscripts and printed materials. The manuscripts include an autobiographical essay, Pronin's memoirs about Generals Kornilov and Brusilov, an essay about an attempt to murder Trot︠s︡kiĭ and articles on the Russian emigration in Yugoslavia and Brazil. The printed materials include copies of the journal "Vera i vernost,́" Pronin's pamphlet "Krymskai︠a︡ voĭna -- Oborona Sevastopoli︠a︡" and "Vo imi︠a︡ pravdy -- O belom dvizhenii i ego vozhdi︠a︡kh," to which Pronin and others contributed.

The collection contains correspondence, manuscripts by Marchenko and others, documents, photographs, printed materials, notebooks, notes, and subject files. Correspondence consists of Marchenko's personal correspondence and the correspondence of the Kronstadt Group, an anti-communist emigre organization. Manuscripts consist mostly of articles by Marchenko on the economy of the Soviet Union, many of them published. Printed materials include mimeographed materials, pamphlets, clippings, maps, and copies of several anti-Communist periodicals. Marchenko's notes and notebooks cover topics on economics, the Soviet Union and the Russian language. Subject files include information on the Institute for the Study of the U.S.S.R. (Munich) and the Kronstadt Group.

The collection -- composed of correspondence, manuscripts, documents, photographs and printed materials -- sheds light on the anti-Bolshevik campaign in the Kuban ́region, Siberia and the Far East. The correspondence is chiefly from the early 1920s and includes letters from Viktor Pokrovskiĭ to his brother Boris. Among the manuscripts are biographical sketches of Viktor Pokrovskiĭ, especially accounts of his assassination in Bulgaria in 1922; information circulars sent out by Ataman Grigoriĭ Semenov, "Commander in Chief of the Far Eastern Armies;" and reports written by Boris Pokrovskiĭ on events in Europe, particularly Eastern Europe, and the Far East. The documents are comprised primarily of decrees (prigovory) from local Kuban ́Cossack groups and the photographs are chiefly portraits of Viktor Pokrovskiĭ. Included among the printed materials are clippings from the Russian and emigre press, a large number of Civil War broadsides and political pamphlets published in Siberia in 1919. Several of the latter are by and about Ataman Semenov.

Baidalakov. Also included are 8 copies of the journals Vol'naia Mysl' (1957, 1960-1961) and Tetrad' Vol'noi Mysli (1964-1966) edited by Baidalakov. In addition there is a collection of NTS fliers and pamphlets from the 1950s.

Correspondence and memoirs of Vereshchagin. Correspondence includes letters from a number of major emigre cultural figures, such as Ivan Bunin, Matild́a Ksheshinskai︠a︡, Vasiliĭ Nemirovich-Danchenko; there are also poems by Nemirovich-Danchenko and by Nadezhda Teffi. In addition, there are letters by members of the Imperial family in exile, particularly Grand Prince Vladimir Kirillovich. Vereshchagin's memoirs touch on such subjects as his childhood and family, the Imperial Corps of Pages, cultural life in St. Petersburg and Petrograd, and the early 1920's in Petrograd and Moscow. In addition, there is a pamphlet of poems by Vereshchagin"Stikhi" (1955).
