Professional and personal papers, as well as materials collected by, Sorbonne professor Alfred Jeanroy. Material in Professor Jeanroy's handwriting includes lengthy as well as brief manuscripts, lectures, preparatory notes for works planned, and material for new editions of published writings. Forty-one notebooks also comprise texts of lectures in his handwriting. Many of these deal with French poetry of the Middle Ages, some with linguistic subjects. There are manuscript notes showing continuous revision of these lectures. Boxes of personal papers include documents dating from 1727, marriage contracts, wills, military and legal parchments, and old family letters. Also, many manuscripts, some of them never published, by Madame B.A. Jeanroy; and several hundred pamphlets and seven books by Professor Jeanroy and his colleagues and contemporaries.

Correspondence, notes, lectures, and clippings of Marguerite Mespoulet, relating to her work and writings on French literature of the 19th and 20th centuries, with special emphasis on Charles Baudelaire, Paul Claudel, and Max Jacob. There are eleven letters and one manuscript"Partage de midi" of Paul Claudel, six letters and seven manuscripts of Max Jacob, and seven letters of Pierre Reverdy.

Much of the correspondence concerns his American teaching and lecture engagements, primarily at the University of Louisville. There are also letters from his colleagues in France, including Françoise Van Rossum-Guyon, with a copy of her Introduction to an edition of Balzac's LE PÈRE GORIOT with Butor's critical letter for the publisher. There are critical and biographical manuscripts about Butor, and several printed works, each inscribed with a note by its author.
