Forster; letters from Sarah Grand to James B. Pond; letters from T.B. Macauley; a letter from Hester Lynch Piozzi to James Robson; letters and cards from G.B. Shaw; letters from R.B. The manuscripts include examples by Max Beerbohm, Arnold Bennett, Elizabeth Bowen, John Burroughs, Ivy Compton-Burnett, A.E. Coppard, Baron Corvo, Cecil Day Lewis, Ronald Firbank, E.M. Forster, George Gissing, Sarah Grand, A.P. Herbert, Rudyard Kipling, Edward Lear, Henry W. Longfellow, Amy Lowell, John Wilmot 2nd Earl of Rochester, G.B. Shaw, Edith Sitwell, and Logan Pearsall Smith.

This collection of letters, manuscripts, autographs, and illustrations of English and American authors and statesmen was assembled by George Dunlop. Many of the letters relate to Robert Burns and to the Burns country of Ayrshire. Among the early items are letters from Robert Burns, Samuel Johnson, Hester Thrale Piozzi, Edgar Allan Poe, and Abraham Lincoln.

The collection contains correspondence with the authors, including contracts signed with authors as well as negotiations with the authors over various aspects of publishing their works; financial records documenting many aspects of the operation of Harper & Brothers, including royalties paid to authors, records of stock offerings and company reorganizations, and general ledgers which contain daily notes on all aspects of the operation of the business; book catalogues and trade lists; research materials collected by Eugene Exman for his history of Harper & Brothers; visual materials, from drawings and photographs of Harper's authors to colophon designs and an oil painting of the original Harper's building.

Correspondence, manuscript, document, autograph and photographs of and by Irish, English and American poets. The letters are by Samuel Austin Allibone, John Erskine, Padraic Colum, Lord Dunsany, Frances Anne Kemble, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Daniel O'Connell, Theodore Parker, and John Greenleaf Whittier. There is an a.ms.s. poem by John Quincy Adams; manuscripts by Ralph Waldo Emerson, Padraic Colum, and Daniel 0'Connell, as well as G. M. Fuller's autograph and photographs of Dunsany, Longfellow and James Russell Lowell. There is also a custom receipt signed by Nathaniel Hawthorne, an uncataloged portrait of Longfellow, and a charcoal portrait of G. K. Chesterton by Ivan Opffer

Included are about 800 letters from outstanding literary figures of Mr. Conway's lifetime, manuscripts of his sermons, lectures and other writings and photostats of Conway material in Dickinson College Library. Among the cataloged correspondents are: Thomas Carlyle, S.L. Clemens, Arthur Conan Doyle, R.W. Emerson, O.W. Holmes, and Walt Whitman

The collection is composed of 66 letters from Haggard to various members of his family, primarily to his sister-in-law, Agnes Barber Haggard, who had been his secretary. There are nearly 250 letters addressed to Haggard, to Coulson Kernahan, and to others. Among the correspondents are: James Barrie, Hall Caine, Mrs Patrick Campbell, Joseph Chamberlain, Wilkie Collins, Marie Corelli, Austin Dobson, A. Conan Doyle, J.A. Froude, John Galsworthy, Edmund Gosse, Andrew Lang, C.J. Longman, J.E. Millais, William Morris, Ouida, Grant Richards, Rafael Sabatini, and John Tenniel. There are several manuscripts by Haggard and printed materials relating to him. There are 20 letters from Haggard to his oldest sister, Ella Green, and about 110 to his brother, Col. Andrew C.P. Haggard.

Correspondence from and to Wise. Many of the letters are from Sir John Murray and his son, John Grey Murray. Proofs and other material relating to Wise's A BIBLIOGRAPHY OF THE WRITINGS IN VERSE AND PROSE OF GEORGE GORDON NOEL, BARON BYRON are included.

There are also ten volumes of his diaries covering the years from 1918 to 1981 and his autobiographical manuscripts: THE OCTOPUS OF LOVE; THE ANSWER TO LIFE IS NO; BLACK SAHARA; COFFEE FOR LAURA; PRINTERS' PIE; THE FRAIL SCREEN; and NO MONEY FOR DREAMS, as well as many unpublished poems in manuscript.
