There are documents relating to the YMCA Canteen Unit in France including a rules book for how to set up and run a canteen which includes fold-out drawings of a model wet canteen, a pamphlet for a conference at Barnard about a preparatory course for overseas canteen workers, and a report by Mrs. F. Louis Slade about the mission of the women's overseas section of the YMCA and the need for women to work in the canteen units. Alumnae who were part of the canteen unit were Alice Waller '14, Virginia Boyd '06, Theodora Curtis '04, Katharine Gay '11, Hazel Woodhull '10, Isabel Totten '05, Jean Townely '13, Edith Morgan '17, and Jennie Wylie '09. The Women's Agricultural Camp (also known as the Women's Land Army or the "Farmerettes") is documented with a Handbook of Standards for the Woman's Land Army of America, an informational bulletin on agricultural service, and the first annual report of Barnard College's Women's Agricultural Camp. In addition, there is a speech by Miss Ida Ogilvie, the director of the Women's Agricultural Camp, about the history of the camp and the necessity of its continued existence. A few newspaper articles and images of the "Farmerettes" from 1917 and 1918 are also in the collection. There are approximately 20 photographs of the Farmerettes working at the Bedford camp and out in the fields in 1917 and 1918. A few of the photographs are duplicate images. According to handwritten notes on the back of one of the photographs, Barnard students who were Farmerettes included: Elizabeth Waterbury, Effie Ross, Mary Hildreth, Edith Oberlé, Alice Johnson, Marion Alleman, Gertrude Mannis, Jessie Howard, Alice Rice, Elizabeth Alleman, and Dorothy Robb.

The photographs in this series are organized chronologically from 1940 through 1945. The 1940 file houses one photograph of Madame Novotna in her dressing room on December 31, 1940, with 3 Barnard undergraduates – Winifred Beck '42, Patricia Lambdin '41, and Marjorie Madden '42, prior to a performance of the opera "Manon" which was performed for the benefit of the Barnard scholarship fund and British war relief on January 10, 1941.
