Donald George Tewksbury later became a professor of Comparative Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, and Malcom Gardner Tewksbury authored two textbooks on speaking Chinese. The collection contains clippings and correspondence documenting Elwood Tewksbury's ordination, missionary activities in China, and role in the Boxer Siege of Peking in 1900, as well as papers of his sons relating to China.

Henry Preserved Smith (1847-1927) was a Presbyterian minister in Ohio and New York and a scholar with specializations in Hebrew and Cognate Languages, historical and critical interpretations of the Bible who was tried for heresy by the Presbyterian Church, 1892-1894, and was subsequently Professor of Church history and Davenport Professor of Hebrew and Cognate Languages at Union Theological Seminary, 1917-1925. The collection contains scrapbooks as they were assembled by Smith to document his heresy trial, as well as the contemporaneous trial of Charles Augustus Briggs, and three scrapbooks on Hebrew literature, as well as other writings and notes including nine of Smith's notebooks, correspondence, speeches, trial materials, lecture notes, and other materials maintained by Smith during his work as a professor and librarian.

Philip Schaff (1819-1893) was a theologian, church historian, ecumenist, and Union Theological Seminary professor. Schaff was president of the American Bible Revision Committee, which he organized in 1871 at the request of the British Committee on Bible Revision. The collection contains correspondence, including from the American Bible Revision Committee and the British Committee on Bible Revision; notes and lectures; diaries; and scrapbooks and memorabilia, including a photograph album.
