Typescript memoirs of Totomi︠a︡nt︠s︡. The longest piece "Iz moikh vospominaniĭ" (156 p.), is a copy of Totomi︠a︡nt︠s︡'s memoirs under the same title (Sofia, Bulgaria, 1943). It discusses his studies in Western Europe; his years as a journalist in Russia around the turn of the century; his work with the cooperative movement in Russia and Europe; and his years in emigration after the 1917 revolution. Also included is a short essay entitled "Kooperativnaia poezdka v Rumynii︠u︡" and four other brief pieces on major economists and scholars whom he knew: Werner Sombart, Luigi Luzzatt, Charles Gide, and Aleksandr A. Chuprov. There is a clipping of an article from a French periodical about Totomi︠a︡nt︠s︡.

Mimeographed typescripts, entitled "Istorii︠a︡ Markovskoĭ Artilleriĭskoĭ Brigady." They were prepared and published by the Historical Commission of the veterans' organization of the Markov Artillery Division, which was a White Army unit in the Civil War. The editors were Vadim Shchavinskiĭ, Colonel Zholondkovskiĭ, and Captain Vinogradov. The two-volume history, with three later additions, discusses the history of the unit.

This collection consists of 37 letters written in reply to a questionnaire sent out by the Philadelphia attorneys, Campbell, Reall, Foster, Bright, and Dallas, in regard to the case of SHARPLESS ET AL. VS. THE MAYOR, ALDERMEN, AND CITIZENS OF PHILADELPHIA IN 1853. These letters of reply contain information for 17 states, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Arkansas, Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Maine, and Louisiana. The letters give brief but full accounts of the history, legislation, and policy of aid to railroads by local governments in these states up to 1853, the year in which all of the letters are dated. The letters were written by state officials and functionaries and are all in script of the clarity of mid-19th century legal hands. Also, articles of incorporation for the West Virginia railroads Clarksburg, Weston and Glenville Railroad and Transportation Company, Weston and Buckhannon Railroad Company, Weston and Elk River Railroad Company, Weston and West Fork Railroad Company, and Buckhannon River Railroad Company; railroad stock certificates; and scrapbooks containing news clippings relating to the Great Erie Railway War, 1868, and sample railroad tickets for the New York Central Railroad.

They cover many major events of the 20th century, on both a local and a global scale: from news of California socialites in the 1920s, to a drafted letter complaining about an unauthorized dispatch by the Associated Press in the European Theater of World War II, to photographs and publications of Stanley Hill, the inventor of the 1955 "Flying Platform" machine, to Marin County activist Ann Smart working to remove "smut" from school reading lists in the early 1960s, to the front pages of UPI clients following the assassination of JFK in 1963.

United Bronx Parents (UBP) was founded in 1965 as a grassroots organization of parents and local businesses advocating for improved education for children in South Bronx public schools. In 1984, under executive director Lorraine Montenegro, the organization shifted focus to address other issues facing Bronx residents, including homelessness, substance abuse, and HIV/AIDS. The United Bronx Parents, Inc. Records document the organization's work for social services in the Puerto Rican community of the South Bronx from the 1960s to the 2010s.

The Union Settlement Association Records document a century of the settlement's activities, and provide a unique view of the first wave of the settlement movement in America. They document social conditions, demographic change, political activity, philanthropy and social work in East Harlem with a strong emphasis on the urban renewal period of the 1950s and '60s. The records include: annual reports, board minutes and committee files, headworker and executive director files, program reports, community organization files, and visual materials such as photographs, maps and architectural drawings.

Those materials in boxes four and five deal with the journal's third issue, which was the first part of a memorial Festschrift dedicated to Rufus Mathewson. Materials given in 1982 include miscellaneous editorial materials and correspondence from 1977-1981, and manuscripts published in the fourth issue (the second part of the Mathewson Festschrift, printed materials, and miscellaneous manuscripts, including some that were apparently rejected).

Minutes, memoranda, bulletins and printed materials of the Uchreditel'noe sobranie (Russian Constituent Assembly) in Paris in 1921. There are minutes of the Judicial Commission of the Assembly; resolutions of the Executive Committee of the Assembly; a report of the Executive Committee's activities during 1921; numerous memoranda prepared by the Assembly mainly concerning Soviet Russia's relations with Western European and Far Eastern countries and treaties affecting Soviet Russia after WWI; and 11 typed information bulletins about the famine in Russia, Russian refugees and prisoners-of-war, and the financial situation of Soviet Russia in 1921. The printed materials include information bulletins, appeals to aid those suffering from the famine in Russia, and several pamphlets on Soviet prisons, the Treaty of Riga (1921), and the commercial pact between England and Soviet Russia(1921). There is also a folder with miscellaneous materials.

A collection of correspondence, documents, and bound volumes pertaining to the Typothetae of New York. These papers contain correspondence of some of the officers and the recording secretary; materials relating to the Emergency Defense Fund, strikes and labor related problems; reports; bills, receipts, and other financial data; and miscellaneous printed materials relating to the organization, constitutions, and elections. The bound volumes consist of minutes of meetings, scrapbooks about Typothetae activities, account books, and a few miscellaneous items. Bound volume one is a minute book for 1865-1867 in the hand of Theodore Low De Vinne, Secretary. Volume 52 contains photographs taken by members at the annual convention in Nashville, October, 1897.

Trofimov Family Papers, 1931-1941

The collection consists of a series of letters from Mariia Trofimova to her son, Len Trofimov, who escaped the U.S.S.R. after the 1917 Revolution and went to live in the United States. The collection contains 40 letters and five post cards from Mariia to Lev, and 11 letters from his sisters, Evgeniia and Galina. There are also several letters from various persons, as well as translations of some excerpts made for a graduate project at Villanova University. The collection documents everyday life in the U.S.S.R. during Stalin's purges. The bulk of the letters cover the 1930s and the last post card was written at the beginning of World War II.

A collection of over 1,300 nineteenth-century maps published for use by tourists and cyclists. Approximately seventy-five percent of the maps depict Italian provinces, but Great Britain and other European countries (especially Switzerland and Germany) are also represented. There are a few maps of non-European countries as well. Most of the maps are mounted on linen and many are folded into cardboard cases as issued. The collection also includes a few guidebooks (published in a set with separate maps) and post card views

The collection consists of correspondence, manuscripts, documents, photographs, subject files and printed material. The correspondence is primarily from the 1920s and includes letters from G. E. Lv́ov and S. P. Mel'gunov and one or two items each from M. A. Aldanov, I. A. Bunin, N. V. Chaikovskii, A. L. Tolstaiia, V. F. Zeeler and others. The manuscripts are primarily in the form of notes in Polner's hand and include Polner's diary from the years 1919-1925. The documents belong to Tikhon Polner's brother, Sergei, and deal with the latter's expulsion from the USSR in 1921. There is extensive material in the subject files on the writings of Lev Tolstoĭ, including typescript copies of several Tolstoi manuscripts and clippings of the reviews of Polner's book on Tolstoi. Also included is a photograph of A. I. Herzen from the 1850s.

Also included are illustrations for nineteen books by Gergely; advertising and commercial art of the 1940s, political cartoons and carricatures from the 1930s 1940s in Europe and America; designs for greeting cards, posters, and record jackets; and eighteen watercolor drawings for NEW YORKER covers, many of which were published in the 1940s. Thomas Whiteside was an American journalist born in 1918. Whiteside wrote for The New Yorker for over 45 years. He covered such topics in his articles and books as cable television, the cigarette industry, the channel tunnel, chemical weapons (notably 2, 4, 5-T, a component of Agent Orange), Ralph Nader, Stig Wennerstrom, and yellow rain. It has been said that Whiteside's work on Agent Orange led directly to the congressional hearings which discussed the dangers of the substance. By the end of the hearings, the Surgeon General of the United States had announced restrictions on the use of the herbicide. The collection contains material related to the articles that Whiteside contributed to The New Yorker. The files include audiocassettes, book reviews, correspondence, drafts, galleys, notebooks and notes, research files, and typescripts. There is a small section of the collection that contains personal papers not tied directly to specific articles or books. The material ranges in date from the 1950s to the 1990s, spanning the time Whiteside worked at The New Yorker.

The correspondence covers the years from his study at Columbia to his death in Bangkok. Among the cataloged correspondence are: Daniel Berrigan, Mark Van Doren, Luis Somoza, Jacque Maritain, Aldous Huxley, James Laughlin, Robert Lax, Grover Cleveland Smith, John Howard Griffin, William Henry Shannon and Victoria Ocampo. The extensive manuscript collection was assembled primarily by Sister Thérèse Lentfoehr, Mark Van Doren, and Robert Shepherd. Among the more significant manuscripts are: corrected typescript of THE SEVEN STOREY MOUNTAIN; fragments of his NOVITIATE JOURNAL; notebooks and journals used in THE SIGN OF JONAS; numerous draft of poems; most of his lecture and conference notes which he used while serving as master of scholastics and, later, master of novices. There is an extensive collection of mimeographed articles, many inscribed to Sister Thérèse Lentfoehr; four watercolors by his father, Owen Merton, and many humorous and devotional drawings by Merton; many photographs of Merton, as well as photographs taken by Merton. Thompson and Raymond Robins, records of supplies, shipments, and distribution reports and over 600 photographs from Russia, China, and Romania. There is substantial correspondence from 1918-1919 concerning Russia, including letters by Louis Brandeis, Felix Frankfurter, and Lillian Wald. A substantial part of the collection concerns Russian war relief in 1941-1942, an area in which Thacher was active. Printed materials include a pamphlet and an article on Russia prepared by Thacher after his return from that country in early 1918.

Business correspondence, editorial memoranda, circulation and financial reports, details for the construction and enlargement of the Pulitzer Building on Park Row, and general papers of THE WORLD. The earlier part of this collection is made up of all materials brought to the attention of Joseph Pulitzer during his editorship and that of his son, Ralph Pulitzer. For the time from Joseph Pulitzer's death in 1911 until ca. 1920, the papers are primarily the files of THE WORLD's "Bureau of Accuracy and Fair Play" directed by Isaac D. White. During the 1920s and until 1931, there is also much material from other departments of the paper such as the composing room, the purchasing department, and the auditors. Also included is a re-recorded audio tape from cylinders originally placed in the World Building cornerstone, October 9-10, 1889. The materials from 1932 until 1940 are insurance policies for the Pulitzer Building and financial reports winding up the affairs of the Pulitzer's Press Publishing Company. The Telford Taylor Papers collect the work of Telford Taylor as a lawyer, legal scholar, writer, and historian. The documents include Taylor's work in Nuremberg with the International and Nuremberg Military Tribunals, his work within departments created by the New Deal, some of his legal case files (particularly on civil liberties cases), and other professional interests that Taylor had. The collection also contains Taylor's writings including drafts of his books, speeches, interviews, teaching materials, and much of the research behind these pursuits. The genre of materials includes official reports, correspondence, manuscripts, annotated texts and photographs. The collection also contains Taylor's research materials in the form of annotations, notes, and clippings.

This collection belonged to an award-winning horror writer who worked for Mirage Studios (the TMNT studio) in the early 1990s, writing the TMNT newspaper strip. There is original art for never-reprinted newspaper strips (1993) complete with thumbnails, comic book manuscripts with editorial notation, story idea notebooks, minicomics produced by Mirage Studios, and manuscript materials for a host of secondary TMNT materials, including The Official TMNT Treasury. Many of the secondary materials are autographed by TMNT creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird.
