Also included is a biographical sketch of George William Curtis from "Roundabout to Boston" in the form in which it was printed in "Literary Friends and Acquaintances" in 1900.

Wallace, Norman Thomas, Wayne Morse, Reinhold Niebuhr and Franklin H. Giddings. Also included are the manuscript notes and research materials for Lehmann's book John Millar of Glasgow, 1735-1801 (1960); early drafts, notes and research materials for Henry Home, Lord Kames, and the Scottish Enlightenment (1971); and numerous papers and articles, many unpublished, dealing with the Scottish Enlightenment. The collection also includes some information relating to Lehmann's involvement in local and national politics, especially his participation in the Liberal Party and Americans for Democratic Action. A number of Lehmann's Scottish books, as well as his own writings are shelved at the end of the collection.

Correspondence, manuscripts, audio cassettes, photographs, and printed materials. The correspondence covers the years 1934 through 1999 and consists mostly of letters to and from James L. Weil, whose Elizabeth Press was Bronk's publisher from 1969 to 1981, from Eugene Canadé, an artist who illustrated many of Bronk's books, from Bronk's sisters, and from many friends. There are also letters from W.H. Auden; Paul Auster, Cid Corman (Bronk's first publisher and founder of ORIGIN, the magazine in which many of Bronk's early poems first appeared), Robert Creeley, Samuel French Morse, Gilbert Sorrentino, and many other well-known authors. The manuscripts include notebooks and binders containing handwritten and typed drafts of poems and essays. They document nearly all of Bronk's published writings including the collection of essays he completed in the 1940s which was published in 1980 as THE BROTHER IN ELYSIUM as well as the collection of poems published in 1981 as LIFE SUPPORTS: NEW AND COLLECTED POEMS for which Bronk won the American Books Award in 1982. There are also page proofs, photographs of Bronk, many audio cassettes of Bronk reading his work in the 1970s and the 1980s and printed materials

Bill Gallo (1922-2011) was the sports cartoonist at the (NY) Daily News for over fifty years, in a newspaper career lasting 70 years. He collected numerous honors, including the Milton Caniff Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Cartoonists Society, the New York Newspaper Guild's Page One Journalism Award (twenty times), and the National Cartoonists Society's Sports Cartoon Award (ten times). He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame for both his cartooning, and his sports writing.

William Beynon Tsimshian manuscripts, 1930s

Abstract Or Scope
William Beynon (1888–1958) was a Tsimshian chief and ethnographer. From 1932 to 1939, Beynon sent the anthropologist Franz Boas approximately 250 transcribed narratives, compiled from interviews with tribal elders. These are known as the Beynon Manuscripts. The texts are mostly interlinear Sm'algyax and English, i.e. each line of Sm'algyax is followed by a line of literal English translation. The entire corpus is about 8,000 pages.

Sassoon (1886-1967) (English war poet, writer, and soldier). Additional correspondence includes 22 letters from the poet's mother, Mrs. Susan Owen to Sassoon (1921-1933); 28 letters written by the poet's brother, Harold Owen to Sassoon (1921-1966); one letter written by the poet's cousin, Leslie Gunston, to Sassoon (1921), and one letter (1930) to Edmund C. Blunden (1896-1974) (English poet, author and critic). There are also three letters from the Wilfred Owen scholar, Dennis S.R. Welland, to Siegfried Sassoon (1950). The Wilfred Feinberg papers consist of over 200 linear feet of material, primarily dating from his fifty years as a judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Some highlights of the collection include rulings and case files from precedent-setting cases, Feinberg's committee work drafting the 1995 Long Range Plan for the Federal Courts, and a detailed oral history.

Personal, professional, and family papers of the journalist and writer Wilbertine Teters Worden (1866-1949). Some of the files concern her father, Colonel Wilbert Barton Teters (1836-1923) a Civil War veteran, his military reunions, and his gold mining interests in Colorado. Wilbertine Teters Worden's own manuscripts include both fiction (short stories and poetry) and non-fiction (she often wrote love stories from early American history). The collection also includes her diaries dating from 1885 through 1948. There does not appear to be much in the collection related to Worden's novel, The Snows of Yester-year" (Boston, Arena Publishing Company, 1895).

Correspondence; biographical forms; typescript biographical entries, often corrected and amended by the subjects; documents; proofs; memoranda; notecards; photographs; clippings of reviews; and other printed materials for the project with the working title "Who's Who in the American Theatre." The materials were assembled by Walter Rigdon, editor, and James H. Heineman, publisher, from 1963, when the first biographical forms were sent out, until 1969, when plans for a second edition were abandoned. The 1101 page volume which was published under the title "The Biographical Encyclopaedia & Who's Who of the American Theater" includes 3350 biographical entries for theater people and a necrology of 9000 names, playbills from 1959-1964, histories of theater buildings and theater groups, production records of Plays staged in New York since 1900, a theater bibliography of 600 entries, lists of awards, and lists of foreign productions. Among those for whom original materials were included are Truman Capote, John Dos Passos, Richard Eberhart, T.S. Eliot, Arthur Miller, Elmer RIce, and Virgil Thomson.

Also included in this collection are community dialogues on race relations (1974-1975); proposed dialogues (1979) on such subjects as the Boy Scouts of America, Columbia University, and the National Council of Christians and Jews; and files on the Whitney M. Young Fellows Retreat Conferences (1980-1984). Letters, manuscripts, galley proofs, page proofs, art works, and printed materials of Auden, including three postcards to Geoffrey Grigson, one of which relates to galley proofs for Auden's poems included in THE YEAR'S POETRY, 1937. There are manuscripts, galley proofs, and page proofs of COLLECTED SHORTER POEMS 1927-1957 (Faber and Faber, 1966) all of which contain his corrections in ink. The manuscript of the book is comprised of typewritten and printed pages, which taken together are a mock-up of the entire book. Also, a pencil sketch of Auden by Terry Durham, a silkscreen portrait by Meyer F. Lieberman, and a portrait head cast by Olaf de Wett. There is also the manuscript and proofs of MARKINGS by Dag Hammarskjöld, translated from the Swedish by Leif Sjöberg and W.H. Correspondence, manuscripts, documents, photographs, subject files, drawings and printed material of the Vserossiiskii zemskii soiuz (All Russian Zemstvo Union). The correspondence, spanning the years 1920-1944, is for the most part addressed to Porfirii N. Sorokin, Executive Secretary of the organization's Vremennyi glavnyi komitet (Temporary Executive Committee), the coordinating unit for all the institutions of the Zemstvo Union. The manuscripts include writings by N. I. Astrov, V. D. Kuz'min-Karavaev, and others. The documents are almost exclusively minutes of the Temporary Executive Committee's meetings from the period 1919-1924. The photographs, for the most part unidentified, are of Russian refugee settlements and White Army encampments in the area of Constantinople and Gallipoli, ca. 1921. The subject files include some financial records, and the printed material include the Vserossiiskii zemskii soiuz bulletin from 1916-1921 as well as publications about the Rossiiskii Zemsko-gorodskoi komitet and the Vserossiiskii soiuz gorodov.

The collection consists of correspondence, manuscripts, and an enormous number of notecards (that were collected over a twenty-year period for a proposed "Slovar' russkikh khudozhnikov") and several dozen notebooks containing entries to which the cards refer. Among the correspondents is Eugène Fabergé, whose letters contain information about the Fabergé dynasty of jewelers. Sakharov's manuscripts include essays on Ivan Bilibin, M. V. Rudaltsov, Mariia Bashkirtseva, Nikolai Globa and V. E. Borisov-Musatov. The cards containing information on artists are arranged alphabetically by artist and contain references to specific notebook entries. There are also bibliographic cards containing citations of articles on art in Russian and other languages. These are arranged by author. The notebooks are largely devoted to a particular artist or genre; others are designated by color and number, letter, number or not titled at all. There are also two sets of large notebooks which seem to belong to another series. There are a few photographs of artists (notably a 1939 photograph of Globa) and photographic reproductions of works by Bakst and Lukin among others. The collection contains approximately 11 exhibition catalogues dating from 1915 to 1940 and primarily relating to the exhibitions of Russian emigre artists in Paris. There are also 4 issues of "Illiustrirovannaia Rossiia" and some clippings dealing with Russian emigre artists.

Correspondence, manuscripts, documents, photographs and printed materials of Unkovskiĭ. The correspondence includes letters from such individuals as Emile Baës, Vladimir Burt︠s︡ev, Nikolaĭ Evreĭnov, Galina Kuznet︠s︡ova, Boris Lazarevskiĭ, Alekseĭ Remizov, Ivan Shmelov, Boris Zaĭt︠s︡ev, and Leonid Zurov. Nearly all the manuscripts are by Unkovskiĭ, and include essays, stories, and excerpts from his memoirs, many of which were published in emigre journals. There are a number of scrapbooks containing clippings of his articles. In addition, the collection contains galleys of books by Unkovskiĭ, and copies of some of his full-length works, including "Ikary" (1942) and "Andreĭ Klinskiĭ" (1940).

Timchenko-Ruban's memoirs"Stranit︠s︡y proshlago" discusses his childhood, his service in the Preobrazhenskiĭ Regiment, World War I, the 1917 Revolution and Civil War, and his life in France from 1922 and through the period of German occupation during World War II. Timchenko-Ruban's essay "1683-1958" concerns the history of the Preobrazhenskiĭ Regiment. There are two subject files containing documents inherited by Timchenko-Ruban. One file relates to Sofi︠́a︡ Danilova and contains school and Red Cross documents while the other relates to Semen Lazarev and his wife Olǵa (nʹee Mikhaĭlova) and contains school, travel and military documents. The documents in both files primarily date from the 1880-1920 period.

The manuscripts--both by Smirnov--are Smirnov's memoirs dealing with the Russian expeditionary force on the Salonika front in World War I (parts of which were published in "Vozrozhdenie" 1959) and "Vernye dolgu" about the Russian legion in France in 1918. The five photographic postcards concern the Russian expeditionary force and the Russian military cemetery at Saint-Hilaire-le-Grand.

The majority of the collection is made up of financial records, such as income and disbursements for the "Morskai︠a︡ organizat︠s︡ii︠a︡" in Paris (1919-22), and the "Morskoĭ fond" in Helsinski (1920-24); and subsidies disbursed to White naval personnel living in Estonia (1920-23).
