These files concern his interest in Pierre Bayle, Antoine Arlier, and the Renaissance in Provence, as well as the Romanic Review, philology, French, Spanish, and celtic studies. Among the correspondents are: Philippe Berthelot, Nicholas Murray Butler, F.R. Coudert, John H. Finley, the Prince de Ligne, Curtis Hidden Page, William B. Parsons, and Aime ́Puech.

There is correspondence with his academic colleagues, students, publishers, and the family and students of Thorstein Veblen, as well as manuscripts, typescripts, drafts, revisions, notes, photographs, pamphlets, and related materials for his articles and books which include: THORSTEIN VEBLEN AND HIS AMERICA, 1934; THE ECONOMIC MIND IN AMERICAN CIVILIZATION, 1946-1959; EARLY AMERICAN POLICY, 1960; INSTITUTIONAL ECONOMICS, 1963; TYPES OF ECONOMIC THEORY, 1967; and NEW LIGHT ON VEBLEN, 1973

Correspondence, manuscripts, drawings, documents, photographs, clippings, and other printed materials. Most of Freeman's own letters are written to Anne Williams Feinberg, his secretary. Among the cataloged correspondence are: Sherwood Anderson, Margaret Bourke-White, Erskine Caldwell, John Dos Passos, Theodore Dreiser, Langston Hughes, Edna St. Vincent Millay, and Lincoln Steffens. There is the manuscript of his book NEVER CALL RETREAT.

These files concern the publication of Anne Frank: the Diary of a Young Girl in 1952, the dramatization of this diary and the subsequent legal disputes with Meyer Levin over the play, and the motion picture made from the play. They also deal with the activities of the Anne Frank Foundation, primarily support for the renovation of the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam and the programs of the International Anne Frank Youth Center. These files include 145 letters from her father, Otto Frank, and letters from Alfred Kazin, Max Lerner, Meyer Levin, and Eleanor Roosevelt. There are also seven letters from Adela Rogers St. Johns and related materials about her own books and the 1963 volume of minutes of the Doubleday & Co. Publishing Committee.

Correspondence, articles, research notes, manuscripts, illustrations, printed materials, and a phonograph record collected by Schwartz in compiling his HART CRANE, A REFERENCE GUIDE (Boston, G.K. Hall [1983]). Among the correspondents are Alfred Gilman and Allen Tate. There is also a xerox copy of the script for a production of "The Bridge" by Hart Crane as a dance drama performed at Bennington College in the early 1930s

Correspondence and some printed ephemera and reviews pertaining to Kenneth Lohf's work on the INDEX TO LITTLE MAGAZINES, INDEX TO THE LITTLE REVIEW, and bibliographies of Yvor Winters, Sherwood Anderson, Frank Norris, Joseph Conrad, and Marianne Moore, which he compiled with Eugene P. Sheey. Included are 35 letters from Robert Greenwood, publisher and poet. There are also books inscribed to Lohf and books and articles by him. In addition, there are more than 300 autograph letters and manuscripts chiefly of ninteenth century English writers, artists, academics, statesmen and other historical figures collected by Lohf

The papers include a 1921 letter from Hickox's brother Eduard Ship in Petrograd to their last sister Marit︠s︡a in Tallinn concerning the fate of various family members after the Revolution. There are also three typescripts of Georgiĭ Kumming, one, entitled "Tri netochnosti", is an article by Kumming which questions various facts in the Bible, the other two are his Russian translations of German works on the Revelations of St. John and on the correspondence between Christ and Abgar Ukkam.

Nearly all the manuscripts in the collection deal with 20th century Russian and Soviet politics. These include "Chekizm i chekisty," "The Cult of Stalin," "Marks-Lenin-Stalin," "Russkiĭ blankizm" and "Tekushchai︠a︡ sovet︠s︡kai︠a︡ propaganda o revizionizme i dialektike." There is a book-length manuscript entitled "V plenu -- Velikai︠a︡ chistka 1936-1939" and a transcript of a Radio Liberty interview with Shteppa in 1953. There is a lengthy curriculum vitae of Shteppa accompanied by several lists of his major publications. The printed materials include clippings, a number of published articles and booklets by Shteppa as well as a few other journals.
