The papers consist of correspondence, manuscripts, documents, and printed materials. Correspondence includes 82 letters from Maksim Kovalevskiĭ to the mathematician Sofii︠a︡ Kovalevskai︠a︡; 69 letters from Petr Lavrov to Kovalevskiĭ; and letters to Kovalevskiĭ from Anton Chekhov (typed copies), Nikolaĭ Mikhaĭlovskiĭ, Pavel Mili︠u︡kov, Petr Struve, and Ivan Turgenev (typed copy). Manuscripts consist of Kovalevskiĭ's handwritten memoirs, with a typed copy and some printed excerpts. Documents consist of Kovalevskiĭ's diplomas from the University of Berlin (1873), the Russian Imperial Academy of Sciences (1899), and the Deputazione Veneta di Storia Patria (1901).

Materials by A. N. Skriabin include: a brief letter to Usacheva; a poem he wrote to her; his autograph; piano exercises; and a brief composition. (All these appear to be in Skribin's hand.) There are also clippings and book (Aleknsandr Nikolaevich Skriabin, 195-1940: Sbornik k 25-letiiu so dnq smerti. M., L., 1940)about Skriabin. Also in the collection is a memoir by Usacheva about Usacheva's second husband, Il'ia Gurliand, who was an assistant of Petr Stolypin and also a journalist. There are also two postcards from M. A. Maklakovoi to Usacheva, materials about V. A. Maklakov.

Typescript "the Truth about Tsarist Russia" presents a revisionist view of social and intellectual conditions in Russia before the Revolution.

Popova's disjointed memoirs "Popovskaia khronika" discuss her family and ancestors, artistic and cultural life in pre-revolutionary Moscow, and the emigration in France. Among the people who appear in these memors are Sergei Diagilev, Savva Mamontov, Maksim Gorky, Serafim Sud'binin, Mikhail Larionov, and Nataliia Goncharova. Also included is a typescript biography (29 p.) of her cousin, Pavel S. Popov (1892-1964), by an unidentified Soviet author. Popov, who married a granddaughter of Lev Tolstoi, was the author of "Istoriia logiki novogo vremeni" (1960), and taught philosophy at Moscow University. This manuscript touches on his family, education, professional career in the Soviet Union, and, in great detail, his family troubles in the last years of his life.

Correspondence and memoirs of Vereshchagin. Correspondence includes letters from a number of major emigre cultural figures, such as Ivan Bunin, Matild́a Ksheshinskai︠a︡, Vasiliĭ Nemirovich-Danchenko; there are also poems by Nemirovich-Danchenko and by Nadezhda Teffi. In addition, there are letters by members of the Imperial family in exile, particularly Grand Prince Vladimir Kirillovich. Vereshchagin's memoirs touch on such subjects as his childhood and family, the Imperial Corps of Pages, cultural life in St. Petersburg and Petrograd, and the early 1920's in Petrograd and Moscow. In addition, there is a pamphlet of poems by Vereshchagin"Stikhi" (1955).
