Correspondence, copies of letters, documents, manuscripts, invitations, menus, clippings, school papers, leases, agreements, deeds, financial accounts, photographs, and printed miscellany. The papers deal with many aspects of the Belmont family interests from 1799 until 1930, including: finance, banking and the Rothschilds; the United States Navy, Commodore Matthew C. Perry (1794-1858) and the Perry expeditions to Mexico and Japan; Belmont's embassy to The Netherlands from 1853 to 1857; the Democratic Party, New York City politics, presidential and Civil War politics; social life in New York and Newport and European travel; horses, horse breeding, The Jockey Club, polo, the Remount Association (for cavalry horses in World War I), fox hunting, dog breeding, and yachting; New York subway construction, railroads, the Cape Cod Canal and aviation; the Democratic Convention of 1912; and genealogical notes on the Belmont, Perry, and other families. In addition to the correspondence, there are 117 letter books, tissue-paper copies of outgoing letters.

Correspondence, manuscripts, subject files, biographical material, photograph, personal property, audio cassettes, and memorabilia. Among the cataloged correspondence are letters from John Haynes Holmes, Fiorello Henry LaGuardia, Edith Kermit Roosevelt, and Eleanor Roosevelt. The arranged correspondence is filed chronologically with annual folders for materials from Isaacs' terms as Manhattan Borough President and bulk date folders for general, personal and topical correspondence. There is a file of correspondence with Mrs. Edith S. Isaacs concerning her biography of Stanley M. Isaacs"Love Affair with a City." Also includes manuscripts by her, and other material relating to her and her charitable work. Addresses, essays and lectures are included in the manuscript files. Among the subject files are campaign materials for the City Councilman elections, 1937, 1941, 1957, etc. There is a brochure from the Dedication of the East River Drive (June 18, 1940) and the New Municipal Asphalt Plant (May 24, 1944), as well as newspaper clippings and other printed political pamphlets and reports. The biographical materials include facts for speakers, personal legal papers and memorial statements. There are three photographs. A leather portfolio and a collection of memorabilia including awards, certificates, plaques, and medals

Correspondence and papers of Low. Both sides of the correspondence are almost intact from 1890 on, with copies of outgoing letters for the two previous decades. There are also four letterpress copybooks, numerous scrapbooks of clippings relating to Low's career and activities, a large number of photographs and other memorabilia, and printed and manuscript copies of many of Low's speeches. Also, contains ten boxes of Annie Low's (Mrs. Seth Low) business and financial correspondence, invitations and regrets, requests for donations, and bills for the period 1914 to 1930.

Letters and documents, the majority written between 1700 and 1900, dealing with both personal and corporate business and financial matters, assembled by Montgomery. The letters are chiefly by American and English writers. Many of the American letters are to and from various United States Treasury officials, usually the Secretary of the Treasury. Of the 107 letters by Joseph Anderson (1757-1835), U.S. Senator and jurist, the majority are written to Samuel Swartwout (1783-1856) when he was Comptroller of the United States and Collector of the Port of New York. Most of the documents are American with New York City firms predominating.
