Manuscripts, subject files, index cards, printed materials and microfilms relating to the CATALOGUS TRANSLATIONUM ET COMMENTARIORUM. The two manuscripts are contemporary and deal with the letters of St. Basil. The subject files include correspondence, notes, and printed materials providing largely biographical information on a wide range of medieval translators and commentators. The index cards list the present day locations of many relevant medieval and renaissance books and manuscripts. The printed materials include photostatic copies and negatives of medieval texts as well as catalog listings of and articles about these texts and their authors. The microfilms, some of which are negatives, are of some of the relevant medieval and renaissance works

The correspondence includes 12 letters from Roland Barthes, 1963-1978, concerning French literature in French and American universities, and one letter from Charles Maurras and his comments on Roudiez's Columbia University dissertation (1950), CHARLES MAURRAS: GENESIS OF A REACTION; also a typescript of the translation and revision of the dissertation, MAURRAS JUSQU'À L'ACTION FRANC̦AISE, published in Paris in 1957. In addition, there are several typescript drafts and page proofs all with holograph corrections for Roudiez's translations of Julia Kristeva's DESIRE IN LANGUAGE (New York: Columbia University Press, 1980) and POWERS OF HORROR (New York: Columbia University Press, 1982); and the typescript for Roudiez's book FRENCH FICTION TODAY(New Brunswick: Rutgers University Press, 1972)

Writers represented in the correspondence files are Margaret Anderson, Sherwood Anderson, George Antheil, Djuna Barnes, Clive Bell, Malcolm Cowley, E.E. Cummings, John Dos Passos, Ford Madox Ford, Ernest Hemingway, Richard Hughes, Eugene Jolas, Archibald MacLeish, H.L. Mencken, Henry Miller, Adrienne Monnier, Man Ray, Elmer Rice, Jules Romains, Gertrude Stein, John Steinbeck, Allen Tate, Carl Van Vechten, Robert Penn Warren, and Edmund Wilson. Galantiere's best known work as a translator was that of the writings of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, and the collection contains in addition to correspondence, twelve manuscripts, all bearing the author's and the translator's corrections. He also wrote extensively on economic subjects and current history, and these files and manuscripts are present in the collection. Galantiere wrote plays in his own name and adapted Jean Anouilh's ANTIGONE for Katharine Cornell in 1946, and there are materials relating to these works.

This collection contains the papers of Louis Napoleon Parker, an English playwright, translator, and historical pageant producer active in the theater from the 1890s until the early 1940s. The collection includes holograph manuscripts, typescripts, and printed editions of Parker's plays, prose and poetry; theater programs and newspaper reviews; a small selection of sheet music; correspondence; personal documents, including datebook-style diaries; photographs; several books belonging to Parker; and his portrait in chalk by Cyril Roberts.
