A significant and sizeable archive of primary materials relating to the career of Charles A. Beard, compiled in the 1970s by Miriam (Beard) Vagts and William Beard. The collection includes more than 300 original letters, manuscripts, and printed material.

Correspondence, manuscripts, notes, documents, book typescripts, photographs, and printed materials covering the time from Dorfman's early interest, as a graduate student, in the economic thought of Thorstein Veblen until his retirement. There is correspondence with his academic colleagues, students, publishers, and the family and students of Thorstein Veblen, as well as manuscripts, typescripts, drafts, revisions, notes, photographs, pamphlets, and related materials for his articles and books which include: THORSTEIN VEBLEN AND HIS AMERICA, 1934; THE ECONOMIC MIND IN AMERICAN CIVILIZATION, 1946-1959; EARLY AMERICAN POLICY, 1960; INSTITUTIONAL ECONOMICS, 1963; TYPES OF ECONOMIC THEORY, 1967; and NEW LIGHT ON VEBLEN, 1973

Correspondence, manuscripts, and printed files. The papers deal mostly with Greene's academic career as a history professor at University of Illinois and at Columbia University; with his activities in various professional and social organizations; and, to a lesser extent, his travels, studies, and personal and family matters. Among the major correspondents are such public figures as Louis D. Brandeis, Felix Frankfurter, and James Jules Jusserand; and such prominent historians as James Truslow Adams, Henry Steele Commager, Samuel Eliot Morison, Richard B. Morris, and Allan Nevins.

Correspondence, manuscripts, memoranda, reports, documents, photographs, microfilms, pamphlets, clippings, and other printed materials relating to Lorwin's professional career. Correspondents include Louis D. Brandeis, Felix Frankfurter, Ben W. Huebsch, Paul U. Kellogg, Harold J. Laski, Frances Perkins, and Gifford Pinchot.

The papers include correspondence, subject files, photographs, and printed materials. The majority of the collection concerns the mission of the American Red Cross to Russia in 1917-1918; Thacher served as a secretary of the mission. There are letters and telegrams by W.B. Thompson and Raymond Robins, records of supplies, shipments, and distribution reports and over 600 photographs from Russia, China, and Romania. There is substantial correspondence from 1918-1919 concerning Russia, including letters by Louis Brandeis, Felix Frankfurter, and Lillian Wald. A substantial part of the collection concerns Russian war relief in 1941-1942, an area in which Thacher was active. Printed materials include a pamphlet and an article on Russia prepared by Thacher after his return from that country in early 1918.
