Professor of Political Science at Columbia (including several stints as Chair of the Department), 1955-1994, The collection includes archival ms. boxes and record cartons, as well as non-archival cartons. Each unit is accompanied by a detailed accession slip; boxes had no original numbering, so for surveying purposes, a number was penciled onto the accession slip and recorded as the original unit number. There is little to no organization of the material, which is mainly loose office paper (largely correspondence and manuscripts) housed in non-archival envelopes and folders, or loose, and bound academic journals and pamphlets. Most of the material covers the topics of Eastern European/Russian Studies, and there is much academic and administrative material as well. There is a significant amount of material in German, Russian, Polish; some Hebrew, French, and Spanish.

Moses Moskowitz served as the secretary general of the Consultative Council of Jewish Organizations (CCJO), an NGO composed of The American Jewish Committee, USA; Alliance Israelite Universelle, Paris; and the Anglo-Jewish Association, Great Britain. Accredited to the United Nations (UN), the CCJO was organized for the specific purpose of consultation with the UN Economic and Social Council in order to encourage the recognition of human rights for all people and to ensure the imput of the Jewish ethical tradition in the development of international human rights law.

This collection contains an eclectic variety of materials collected by Jewish historian, archivist, and bibliographer Zosa Szajkowski (1911-1978). Materials include organizational records, documents, correspondence, periodicals, printed ephemera related mainly to Eastern European Jewish life in France in 1920s and 1930s and on the territories of modern Ukraine, Lithuania, Poland and Russia in the first quarter of the 20th century. There are also materials of the Russkii Obshchekolonial'nyi Komitet v Parizhe, Comité des Delegations Juives, Kharbinskoe Evreiskoe Dukhovnoe Obshchestvo, and papers of A. (Aleksei) Lozovskii.
