The C. V. Starr East Asian Library is one of the major collections for the study of East Asia in the United States, with materials in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Tibetan, Mongol, Manchu, and western-languages, including books (both print and electronic), periodicals, newspapers, audio-visual material, databases, and more.

Japanese Photograph and Postcard Collection, 1911-1990, bulk 1930-1940 2.6 Linear Feet (3 document boxes and 4 postcard boxes containing 3100+ postcards and photographs with postcard envelopes, pamphlets and correspondence)

Lindsay, Samuel McCune, 1869-1960

This Japanese photograph and postcard collection is composed of five different groups: photographs and postcards collected by Samuel McCune Lindsay (Series 1); photographs and postcards collected by J. W. T. Mason (Series 2); photographs donated by Katharine Becke (Series 3); Japanese Subjugation of Rehe Sheng (China) "Public Relations Photographs" (Series 4); and other postcards and photographs (Series 5). The majority of items were created and/or collected during the 1930s in Japan; however, the collection includes items created throughout the twentieth century as well as originating in neighboring countries such as China and Korea.

The Barbara Curtis Adachi Hands of Japan Collection, 1942-2003, bulk 1970-1993 22 Linear Feet (22 linear ft. of paper materials, 2,449 slides, 5,200 photographs, 886 strips of 35mm negatives, medium-size negatives and transparencies, 129 audio and 3 video cassettes, and several realia objects)

This collection contains correspondence, manuscripts, notes, slides, audio and video cassettes, negatives, transparencies, articles, books, ephemera, postcards and realia objects.
