He was active in community affairs in New York and Paterson, N.J. His primary research interests were John Hughes, first archbishop of New York, and labor and church history.

This group of thirteen letters, one document, one signed card, fourteen portraits, and one portrait medal relates to six distinguished Italian patriots who were prominent in the unification of Italy in the 19th century. The collection includes one letter and one portrait of Count Camillo Benso Cavour (1810-1861); three letters and three portraits of Domenico Cirillo (1739-1799); two letters and two portraits of Giuseppe Garibaldi (1807-1882); one letter and one portrait of Giuseppe Guisti (1809-1850); six letters, one signed card, and six portraits of Giuseppe Mazzini (1805-1872); and one document, one portrait, and one portrait medal of Victor Emmanuel II of Italy (1820-1878). The letters are in many cases accompanied by transcriptions and translations as they are chiefly in Italian. The portraits are engravings and photographs.

The cataloged correspondence is with Jacques Barzun, Benedetto Croce, Elena Croce, Wallace Fowlie, Thomas Mann, Salvatore Quasimodo, Arthur Schlesinger Jr., and René Wellek. There is manuscript material relating to the Bergel-Hauptman case and a number of Bergel's own essays and reviews. A copy of Bergel's German passport is included, as well as numerous family photographs and miscellaneous printed material. There is a cataloged photograph of Hugo von Hofmannsthal; and a gold Benedetto Croce centennial medal.

This collection documents the artistic productions and the daily administrative functions and operations attest to the mission of the company. The materials in this collection consist of administrative and financial records, production files, stage guides, scores, correspondence, programs, photographs, posters, scenery plans, memorabilia, printed materials, and audio and video recordings, dating from 1924 to 2019, with its bulk dating from 1965 to 1991.
