Correspondence, manuscripts, notes, notebooks, photographs, printed materials, computer print-outs and tapes, key-punched cards, and card files of Schiller. The collection includes correspondence with his professional colleagues, foundations, and learned societies, and some personal correspondence. There are manuscripts and drafts of his books, articles, book reviews, lectures, and abstracts, his papers as a student, notebooks of readings and drafts, appointment books, mimeographed course materials, photostats, photographs, and materials relating to his computer studies of Roman law texts. Correspondents include Sir Harold Idris Bell, W.W. Buckland, W.E. Crum, Gilbert Highet, H.F. Jolowicz, Owen Lattimore, and Harold Medina.

Correspondence, photographs, clippings, and miscellaneous materials of Sarasohn. The correspondence pertains primarily to family and legal affairs. A few letters from his father, William Gillette, Rose Pastor Stokes, and Will Durant are included.

A collection of letters and manuscripts of English and American authors, including one item from each of the following: Pearl S. Buck, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Thomas De Quincey, Thomas Frognall Dibden, Charles Dickens, William Ewart Gladstone, Edmund Gosse, Hester Thackeray Ritchie Fuller, Rockwell Kent, Charles Kingsley, Edward George Bulwer Lytton, John Masefield, Clinton Scollard, William Wordsworth and Walt Whitman. In addition, there are 8 letters from Samuel Rogers (1763-1855) to Mr. and Mrs. Horace Twiss (Annie Sterky Greenwood Twiss), photographs of Alan and Margaret Kempner and miscellaneous Kempner items.

Correspondence, manuscripts, notes, clippings, books, and a photograph of Ulmann. There are twenty books from his library, most of which are his copies of his own works. Among the correspondents are Donald Grant Mitchell, Margaret Mitchell, and Francis Hopkinson Smith.

The papers include Laptev's typescript memoirs (23 p.); two letters to Walter L. Bell, who headed the American Relief Administration's office in Ufa, and one from Bell to Laptev; reports of A.R.A. activities, in tabular form; and photographs.

Correspondence, documents and photographs primarily relating to Greiner's years spent as a secretary for the American YMCA in the Soviet Union. There are numerous photographs of Greiner's family and friends in the U.S., and his summerhouse in Claverock, N.Y.

Typescript copies and copyrights to seven of Gudeman's scholarly publications. These are MANUAL OF THE HISTORY OF CLASSICAL PHILOLOGY (which has had eight editions), typescript with six large envelopes of illustrative material, photographs, etchings, and various other types of reproductions; IMAGINES PHILOLOGORUM, a new edition of a biographic, bibliographic index to the field of philology; bibliography of Aristotle's DE POETICA; a manuscript in Greek of the text of Aristotle's DE POETICA; Sallust CATALINE, 4th ed., numbers 1-5 "ready for publication;" English translation of Gudeman's own work containing HISTORY OF LATIN LITERATURE; and COLLECTION OF CRITICAL ESSAYS and THE WORLD'S LITERATURE, 30 volumes. Also, various letters, lecture notes, club membership lists, and Gudeman's own lists of and notes about his works.

Manuscripts, photographs, drawings, watercolors, and printed materials relating to the mission of the American Relief Administration in Soviet Russia in the early 1920s, during the famine of those years. There are manuscripts by William N. Haskell (chief of the mission) and Alvin E. Blomquist based on their experiences. There are many photographs concerning the mission's work, and the famine; there are also photographs of Communist Party leaders Lev Kamenev, Maksim Litvinov, and Nikolai Semashko. The drawings and watercolors, which are by an undentified artist, are of Simbirsk.

Correspondence, manuscript, document, autograph and photographs of and by Irish, English and American poets. The letters are by Samuel Austin Allibone, John Erskine, Padraic Colum, Lord Dunsany, Frances Anne Kemble, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Daniel O'Connell, Theodore Parker, and John Greenleaf Whittier. There is an a.ms.s. poem by John Quincy Adams; manuscripts by Ralph Waldo Emerson, Padraic Colum, and Daniel 0'Connell, as well as G. M. Fuller's autograph and photographs of Dunsany, Longfellow and James Russell Lowell. There is also a custom receipt signed by Nathaniel Hawthorne, an uncataloged portrait of Longfellow, and a charcoal portrait of G. K. Chesterton by Ivan Opffer
