Correspondence, manuscripts, photographs and printed materials of Volzhanin. The correspondence includes two letters from Aleksandra Tolstai︠a︡. The manuscripts are all by Volzhanin himself, and include memoirs describing his World War I military service, his service in the White Army in Siberia, his arrest and imprisonment until about 1937, his service with the Germans during World War II, and his eventual emigration to the United States. Other manuscripts deal with noted figures in Russian history, the emigre press, and literature. There are a few photographs of Volzhanin and a number of clippings.

The extensive correspondence relates to Mogilat's personal and professional activities and includes letters from many of her students and colleagues. Correspondents include Gleb Struve, Alexandra Tolstoy and Boris Unbegaun. Of special interest are letters by her first husband Baron von Taube, written from the front during World War I, and correspondence with various Russian acqaintances about the Soviet Union in the 1920s and 1930s in which they describe life in a communal apartment, and plans to rescue friends who have been arrested. Subject files concern Columbia's Russkiĭ Kruzhok and the Avtonomoff method of teaching Russian to Americans. There are letters, photographs, concert programs and music of Russian emigre composer and pianist Ariadna Mikeshina. Manuscripts are by various persons; most are by John Paul Mihaly, who had been Mogilat's student. There is also a manuscript of translations by Clarence Manning, "Four Poems by Blok." Documents and photographs concern Mogilat and her family, both before and after emigration. Printed materials consist mostly of off-prints of articles by Clarence Manning and others, primarily on literary topics. There are also books, mimeographed materials, periodicals, and clippings.

Correspondence of I.L. Tolstoĭ. Nearly all the correspondence is between Il'ia Tolstoĭ and his wife, Nadezhda Klementévna Tolstai︠a︡. It primarily dates from the 1920s and concerns the lecture series Il'iaTolstoĭ gave throughout the United States and in Paris. There is one letter from Aleksandra L. Tolstai︠a︡ and a folder of official correspondence relating to the lecture series, including several letters from Tolstoĭ's manager. There is a brief essay by Tolstoĭ entitled "A Democratic Peace" and an unidentified photograph, presumably of Nadezhda Tolstai︠a︡.

The papers consist of correspondence, manuscripts, documents, original art works, bibliographic notes and material on exhibitions. There are letters from Aleksandr Benois, Mikhail Chekhov, Fedor Komissarzhevskiĭ, Georgiĭ Lukomskiĭ, Nikolaĭ Medtner, Vladimir Nabokov and Aleksandra Tolstai︠a︡, and one letter each from Ivan Bunin, Mikhail Fokin, Tyrone Guthrie, Sok Hurok and Serge Kusevit︠s︡kiĭ. The manuscripts include essays by Dobuzhinskiĭ on such topics as the Mir Iskusstva group, Pushkin's illustrations, Aleksandr Blok, Kuzḿa Petrov-Vodkin and Josʹe-Maria Sert. There are original art works (pen and ink, goache, etc.) relating to his artistic and theatrical productions. Also included are photographs of Russian scenes, apparently from before World War I.

There are letters from Rodion Berezov, Aleksandra Tolstai︠a︡, I︠A︡kov T︠S︡vibak, and Mark Weĭnbaum as well as one letter each from Georgiĭ Grebenshchikov, Dmitriĭ Shakhovskoĭ, and Igor ́Sikorskiĭ. There is a poem and letter drafts by Matviĭchuk, dating from 1945-1973. The arranged manuscripts include a brief memoir by Matviĭchuk entitled "Ushedshee." The essay discusses his family, the Civil War, and life in the Soviet Union during the 1920s. Matviĭchuk left the Soviet Union during World War II, and eventually emigrated to the United States. There is a box of clippings and several boxes of emigre newspapers and journals, many of which contain essays by Matviĭchuk.

Correspondence, manuscripts, diaries, notebooks, subject files, books and other printed materials of Berezov. The correspondence includes letters from Aleksis Rannit, Alexandra Tolstoy, and the editors of "Novoe russkoe slovo," Mark Weinbaum and Andrei Sedykh (pseudonym of Iakov Tsvibak). There are three different typescript versions and handwritten drafts of Berezov's novel "Volzhskii solovei" as well as manuscripts of his short stories and poems. There are also many notebooks containing drafts of poems and miscellaneous notes. Berezov's diaries cover the years 1944 to 1975. Printed materials include books and clippings about Berezov, also books by other authors from his library. A subject file on Alexandra Tolstoy contains numerous articles concerning her father as well as her work in this country; there are also poems by Berezov which are dedicated to her.

The correspondence includes letters from Rodion Berezov, Georgiĭ Grebenshchikov, Olǵa Spesivt︠s︡eva, Aleksandra Tolstai︠a︡ and I︠A︡kov T︠S︡vibak. While most of the manuscripts are Tarydina's own, there is an essay by Natalii︠a︡ Logunova, and a copy of one by Maksimilian Voloshin about Tarydina's father, General Nikandr Marks. There are several dozen photographs that chronicle emigre theatrical events she produced during the 1940's in New York in collaboration with her husband, I︠A︡kov Shigorin. There is a 1917 contract with the Bolśhoĭ Letniĭ Teatr and a subject file concerning Tarydina's father. The clippings and scrapbooks relate to Tarydina's theatrical career at the Moscow Malyĭ Theater, in Odessa and in New York as well as to her essays published in the emigre press.
