Taty begins the interview with an account of her life story. In that first story, Taty talks about the first years of her life, her move to Havana, the boarding school, and her vacations away from her family. Taty discusses her joining night school, learning English and the changes at school during the Revolution. Taty reflects on being married to a man diagnosed with schizophrenia and her son's learning problems. Taty discusses the sex education she received at boarding school, the use of contraceptives, and abortion. Taty reflects on religion. She also discusses racism on the island and remembers that there were spaces where Black people could not enter. She describes some racist situations that she experienced as a Black woman.
