Frances Halsband papers and drawings, 1966-2019

The Frances Halsband papers and drawings document Halsband's professional activities and relationships within a number of architectural professional organizations, universities, and her practice with Robert Kliment. The collection contains correspondence, drafts, instructional material, photographs, drawings, ephemera, and printed material.The series headings reflect original distinctions between Arch League material, firm material, and other professional material.

The Architectural League of New York series contains a range of files organized in a rough chronology across 16 years of involvement, with a concentration around her presidency from 1985-1989. The series ends with a scrapbook compiled by League colleagues documenting and celebrating her leadership tenure.

The Kliment Halsband Architects Series conists mostly of incoming and outgoing correspondence, with of a binder of press clippings concerning KHA projects from 2003-2004

Series III: Personal and Professional Papers exhibits Halsband's emergence in the field and wider professional engagement. Material in this series is dated back to her days in Columbia University's school of architecture, with examples of her student work and evidence of post-graduate activities as a William Kinne Fellow. Her career as an educator is captured in this series, with correspondence and instructional material from her positions at Columbia, University of North Carolina, Rice University, University of Virginia, Harvard University, University of Pennsylvania, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Pratt Institute, UC Berkeley, Ball State University, and University of Maryland. Drafts, correspondence, and program planning material document her involvement with conferences and as a lecturer. Several files document her presidency at the AIA NYC chapter, and a small number of files relate to other professional organizations.
