Scope and content:

Letters from Oleksandr (Oles') Iasenyts'kyi to his cousin Maria Dyhdalevich, who lived in the United States. Letters from 1958 to 1960 were sent from a settlement in Karaganda; letters from 1961 to 1980 were sent from village Dymivka, L'viv Region. There are also letters from Mariia Iasenyts'ka, Oles' Iasenyts'kyi's sister, addressed to Maria Dyhgalevich, her cousin. Collection contains Oles' Iasenyts'kyi family photographs including himself, his wife, and their son Myron. There are also postcards featuring views of Kyiv and Kaniv.

Biographical / historical:

Oleksandr Iasenyts'kyi (1914-1980?) was a Ukrainian nationalist, one of the founders of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN), was arrested many times by Russian, Polish, and Soviet authorities. The OUN was the largest and one of the most important far-right Ukrainian organizations operating in the inter war period on the territory of the Second Polish Republic
