This collection consists of correspondence, research materials and printed materials related to Alexander Aseev (1902-1993), physician, publisher and one of the editors of "Occultism and Yoga" almanac. In early 1931, Aseev read the book Agni-Yoga written by Helen Roerich, was tremendously impressed and wrote a letter to the publisher with many questions. His letter was sent to the Roerichs family and they began to correspond with him. These letters are held at the Roerich Museum in New York City.
On March 22, 1933, Aseev began publishing in Belgrade the "Occultism and Yoga" almanac, which featured the Roerichs extensively. The almanac provided a platform for a broad circle of occultists and esotericists from the Russian diaspora.
In 1937, due to rising tariffs, Aseev moved the magazine's printing to Sofia, Bulgaria. However, in the summer of 1938, publication of the magazine ceased.
In 1951, Aseev moved to South America and in 1952, resumed publication of the almanac in Paraguay. Unfortunately, the magazine brought Aseev connections with some undesirable groups. In 1977, the journal ceased publication, and two other almanacs were published in its place.
