There is a substantial amount of printed ephemera relating to the Quaker pacifist cause from WWI and WWII. Executive Committee Minutes Citizens Union, City Committee minutes, correspondence, voter registries, Women's Municipal League and other personal material and memorabilia.

George Hallett was Secretary of the Citizens Union of New York City from 1930's to 1970's. Substantial amount of printed ephemera relating to the Quaker pacifist cause from WWI and WWII. Executive Committee Minutes Citizens Union, City Committee minutes, Correspondence, Voter Registries, Women's Municipal League and other personal material and memorabilia.

Correspondence, manuscripts, documents and printed materials documenting Hallett's active role as Secretary of the Citizen's Union of the City of New York, including miscellaneous files of Citizens Union, New York State Legislative calendars, campaign literature and other organizations with which he was associated, such as the Young Peoples League.

Biographical / historical:

George Hallett was a monitor of New York City government and the executive secretary and legislative representative of the Citizens Union for nearly 40 years. Hallett joined the Citizens Union, a nonprofit organization that monitors municipal performance and assesses the qualifications of candidates for local office, in 1934. Over the years, both with the Citizens Union and in other capacities, he was an influential critic of government and a drafter of legislation dealing with the structure of government.
