Herbert Andrew Deane, American political philosophy educator. Rockefeller fellow, 1958-1959; Guggenheim fellow, 1960-1961; National Endowment of the Humanities senior fellow, 1974-1975. Served with United States Naval Reserve, 1942-1946. Member American Society Political and Legal Philosophy, Institute International de Philosophie Politique, Academy Political Science, Century Association (New York City), Phi Beta Kappa.
