This series contains one typed manuscript of an essay entitled "Ecumenical Protestantism and Labor Relations," written while Bouwman was a student at The New School for Social Research. The essay is eighty pages in length, along with a title page and a three-page bibliography. The first page of the essay is missing. Copyedits and critical feedback have been marked in pencil throughout by an unknown editor, possibly a professor at the New School. The essay contributes to an analysis of ecumenical Protestantism in America by showing the differences between sectarian religious groups and what Bouwman calls "churchly" groups, or mainline churches, in terms of their relationship to the "Social Gospel," and to labor laws in particular.
