Subseries I.2: General Correspondence, 1917-1974

Scope and content:

This subseries, the largest of the correspondence series, contains letters from before the founding of the NSANL through its final years in the 1970s. It contains both internal correspondence and communication with other organizations and members of the public. The letters discuss a wide range of subjects and reflect the changing focus of NSANL over time; early letters deal primarily with boycott strategies, while later correspondence concerns many aspects of human and civil rights. Files have been arranged alphabetically by individual or organization name.
