Family of Aurora, N. Y., descendants of Christopher Morgan of Groton, Conn. Edwin Barber Morgan (1806-1881) and Christopher Morgan (1808-1877) were members of Congress before the Civil War. Edwin was elected to the Thirty-third (as a Whig), Thirty-fourth (as a Whig), and Thirty-fifth Congresses (as a Republican) (1853-1859); Christopher was elected to the Twenty-sixth and Twenty-senveth Congresses (as a Whig) (1839-1843).
